they currently operate on a $1.9mill budget of which (2022)
$800k comes from NSWRL and pokie funding.
$500k comes from fanbase activity
$280k comes from Sponsors
$30k from roosters
Jnr league income $50k

At most they had about 700 paid members in 2022

Of course you aren't going to get members to NSW Cup,

One of their directors is High up with Zoom, You have to think they'd be sponsoring as part of it.

Another is with Aware Super. I can't see them sponsoring anyone.

So if you can bring those 2 sponsors across with that $2m. Anywhere between 2-10k Sydney members.

You'd be able to pair the Bears name with most Sydney Clubs to get an event game or 2.

That is without the support from Perth. That is a good boost until you build the brand up over the 10-20 years it will take

But then they're stuck with the name.

No doubt there will be some advantages, but first and foremost we have to make sure whatever is set up is the right club for perth long term, and not just pandering to some decrepit News ltd hack and a handful of Sydney nostalgics.

Its been 25 years and sydney people are still harping on about the Bears coming back, so I suspect so yes.
Cause it’s heritage

other than you nobody is pining for the reds

bears Sydney fans will have at least 30 percent of the total members of the club

and probably better access to corporates

How many of those harping are under 50?

Very few if any
I think you underestimate how stuck in the past Sydney rl fans can be. I mean if I hear one more time shthole LO called the seventh wonder of the world lol
Its not just old bears fans, its RL fans who think itd be good to have a Sydney brand back as theyve been fed crap from the media for years about how important the Bears are.

Oh yeah they'd be a good feeder club but they won't be bringing fans. Nothing they bring would deserve games at NSO.
And people are forgetting that they moved away from bear park. Why would it be a good idea to play there now but not a good idea in the late 90s?
The Bears moved away from North Sydney Oval because the NRL said that it wasn’t up to NRL standards.
The Bears moved to Bluetongue Stadium for the 1999 season but unfortunately never got to play there as the wrong materials in the Stadiums roof and consistent rain delayed the Stadiums completion.
Since the Bears where out of the NRL, South Sydney and the Women’s State of Origin have played games there ?.

So NRl deemed it not fit in the 90's but 35 years later its good for NRL? I know Dolphins and Tigers have set the bar pretty low on nrl stadium standards but Im not sure we should doubling down on that with NSO!

Should be pre season at NSO and v Manly at Allianz to maximise commercial returns.

Though I get my tail with many of your comments I also agree with many of them and surprisingly so do many other Bears fans.
Yes you still have Bears fans who think that the Bears playing out of North Sydney Oval and Central Coast Stadium full time is still an option, you can’t teach stupid.

Actually you’d be very surprised, I know that I was when I attended the NSW Cup Grand Final last year between the Bears and South Sydney.
Obviously no where near existing NRL clubs youth support but there were plenty there in their teens, 20’s and 30’s in Bears colours cheering along with us old farts.

Well that is good, my point is as kids grow into Bears fans in Perth. The old ones here will die out and it will be like Swans or the Lions in the AFL they become over there

These guys are dopes

norths chose to move to Gosford not because of the state of nso but bc they were promised a license on their own in the nrl if they did.

which the nrl reneged on
The Bears invested money into Bluetongue Stadium it is very depressing what happened there, but look who was on the backbenches of the NRL/ARL at the time.
The Bears were never getting any favours from Arthursons’ and Fultons’ buddies while they were both still around.
