So no more hull derbies at craven park then.
Indeed no games at all would be the way to gon
HKR arent giving up home ground advantage for a few quid. Best thing we did staying put, ground is developing nicely, is rated in top 5 for experience and atmosphere, has already filled 80% capacity with full memberships for 2024, second highest crowd ever last year and weve picked up a load of development land cheap around it that will set the club up for decades to come. Oh and a Grade A baby. Happy days to be a Robin. Willie just needs to win us a cup now!

because its a relic of the 70's and isnt NRl standard. Tigers should be able to get 17-20k crowd avg, they'll never get that at LO.
Craven Park is SL standard (Grade A baby) and commercially much more profitable. we are outgrowing it which is great to see and have plans in place to deal with that, what a nice problem to have!

Not to mention Hull and Sydney are two very different cities. 90%+ of HKR fans live in East Hull, I doubt 90% of Tigers fans live in Balmain?

It isnt, its a Grade A SL stadium. And its soon to get even better.

Im a champion of moving out of not fit for purpose stadiums to modern stadiums that are. That you think LO and NS oval are fine for NRL games says a lot about you.

again thats just a bit of short term icing sugar on top for a perth side. Fanbase and sponsors wont be a problem here. The real value Bears bring a Perth franchise is the pathway system. Thats our weakness and thats what Bears offer. What that is worth to a perth club, and if there are other alternatives with less demands is Im sure what they've been exploring.

I'm not adverse to a Perth Bears club as long as it meets the non negotiables a Perth club should be laying down.
#1 of which is WA ownership.

We have mentioned they are unlikely to get Thurs and Fri night FTA games due to the timeslot.

What do they bring to be included in event games? I can't see a huge number of fans travelling across.

So that is already putting the corporate side of it behind the 8 ball before you get into on field performance

That is the issue with bringing in a brand new team, No one cares either way or the other.

Not saying it is the Bears but linking with an established club does help that

There are surveys that have Storm as the most popular, I don't doubt 200k have said they support the Bears online.

They do manage to find $millions to run lower grade teams. So there is something there
Leagues club and NRL club using them as a feeder. They'd be making nothing from the fan base

Maybe so but they have guys on their board with pretty sweet gigs that would be great sponsors.

As well as the League club, it is a pretty solid junior partner for a new club, They couldn't go alone but would bring something to the table

Out of all the bids, Perth offers the least bang for buck. It's why its advocates resort to bullshit lines like "it adds a new timeslot", when in reality it doesn't.

Participation levels in Perth will never be at the same level as the QRL, NSWRL, NZRL or PNGRFL.

Corporate support will always be middling at best.

TV ratings will be so low in Perth they condemn the club to coverage on 9Gem.

PRS is middling at best and behind Hindmarsh Stadium.

Terrible timeslot for Thursday and Friday games.

Flying lower grade teams to the east coast will be very costly and difficult for players who are only semi-professional athletes and have a job outside of football.

Oh yeah they'd be a good feeder club but they won't be bringing fans. Nothing they bring would deserve games at NSO.
And people are forgetting that they moved away from bear park. Why would it be a good idea to play there now but not a good idea in the late 90s?

How does brand effect point 1? AWST will remain the same regardless of what the team is called?

What event games are you thinking of?

I dont undertsand what you mean? Melbourne Storm are on FTA as much as a lot of clubs with longer histories. I suppose perth bears or jets may get away games on FTa more than a WC Pirates but probably only 1 or 2 games a season difference. Not sure it impacts corporate support that greatly so such a small fta exposure difference?

All teams are new at some point, rivalries develop over time for lots of different reasons. thrid party fan interest is also driven by lots of different factors. Success, glamor of the new club, fan fave players and so it goes on. Will more neutral fans tune in to watch a Perth Bears or Jets over a WC Pirates, all things being equal? I dont see why they would.

Maybe, but again it depends on what the cost is at the end of the day and how the club would end up being perceived by its main market, which is Perth.

Only significant value of Bears is the established pathway programs, but if the price is too high then its better to find a different partner who can offer that.

they currently operate on a $1.9mill budget of which (2022)
$800k comes from NSWRL and pokie funding.
$500k comes from fanbase activity
$280k comes from Sponsors
$30k from roosters
Jnr league income $50k

At most they had about 700 paid members in 2022

I think the Bear logo is needed, Not sure they will get anyone - including the NRL think 4 games in Sydney full stop is good enough let alone at North Sydney Oval
