The arlc has mandate to invest and grow the game at all levels. It’s abjectly failed in that responsibility in a number of parts of the country, leaving it to nrl clubs means there will always be large geographic areas the game goes undeveloped. Dumb by the arlc.

How much money do you want the ARLC to invest in Adelaide, Melbourne and Perth per annum?

How many extra participants will $3m produce in each market?
15k in WA and Vic and 5k in SA would be achievable goals imo

adding 35k+ participants to the game for $6-9mill a year is a decent It’d mean our afl states had bigger participation than whole of nz.

id also be working on govt to get some serious grassroots funding for nt to help the communities out there.

The problem with your hypothesis is there's no guarantee that $6-9m per annum will lead to 35k more people playing the game.

Why would spending an extra $6-9m on Adelaide, Melbourne and Perth lead to more people playing the game?

Using your logic, spending more money on Brisbane and Sydney will increase the amount of people playing the game and strengthen Origin.

Of course there isn’t. You couldnt possibly guarantee anything,

What we can guarantee is without it RL won’t grow its participation in those states. So the question is does the arlc want to meet its mandate and grow the game around the country?

And if yes then is it willing to invest to do so?

And if the answer is no then you have to question if they are the right people to be running the game.

because there is a clear correlation between sport investment and participation Increase.

maybe, but there is an argument that with all the ample opportunities already in place for kids to play RL in those cities it’s already near saturatioN where as in other cities it isn’t even close.

So investing an extra $3m in Brisbane won't lead to more people playing the game, but Adelaide, Melbourne and Perth will provide 30k players for $9m?

What are you basing this figure on?

What is the $9m going to be spent on?

How will it create an additional 30k players?

You can hire all the development officers in the world and purchase more land for new clubs, but it won't make any difference in participation unless you can convince people who aren't currently playing the game to sign up for a club.

Do you have any evidence that there's 30k people in Adelaide, Melbourne and Perth willing to play the game on the condition that $9m is thrown at development officers and a new change room for the Joondalup Giants and Altona Roosters?

What's stopping these people from signing up now?

There are clubs throughout Queensland and NSW that operate on the back of volunteers and fund raising events. I don't see them whinging about how they would have more players if they had more money.

I know you're the least informed poster here besides @Wb1234 , but the QRL is suing the ARLC for lack of funding right now.

Think before posting

Yep. I've seen no development in the Simpson desert. Or your brain.

Here we go again, I’ve pointed out many times what it would be spent on. What encourages kids to play a sport? Answer that and you have your answer.

particpation rates are heavily influenced by various factors, just look at rl in perth. Early 90’s 10k with 1 million population. By 2002 down to 1500 with 1.5million, by 2020 up to 4k. Cities now 2.3mill and tipped to get to 3 mill in coming years. No reason with right strategy and investment a lot more people can’t be attracted to play rugby league. Have faith in our sport as an attractive game for kids, just needs the right investment to get it into more schools, get more jnr clubs started up around the state and get more taster sessions happening for kids.
And then an nrl club for kids to one day dream of playing for and to get local star names for kids to idolise.

you yourself have often told us how strong afl has grown participation in queensland on the back of serious investment. You believe afl can do it but not rugby league? You dont seem to believe in the game much?

The Central Coast should have a team! It has a massive juniors competition. Lots of talent going to nrl clubs already and lots of talent going to waste because of no clear pathway for them.

You don't need a local NRL side to create direct pathways to the NRL, and the NRL doesn't need another side in NSW. Especially not one that will be wedged in-between 10 of the other teams in the comp.
