The NRL and the clubs get the most out of increased player pathways and quality from png, and the best way to gain this is to invest in the actual game in PNG, not send a team based in Aus there on a fifo basis - a PNG team today has no financial value outside of accepting the gov on their word for grants

I'm sure Port Moresby will one day have a team of its own in the NRL, but that day should not be today, especially one lumped together with the rest of the pacific, and based in regional aus

I'd rather see the Australian government buy meat and produce from Australian farmers and provide it in all schools across PNG alongside a dedicated rugby league program. Getting undernourished kids in PNG well fed will do more to get Papuans in the NRL than this FIFO team that Albo wants. Papuans need to increase their height so they can physically compete with Polynesians and whites in the NRL.
A good diet from childhood will add a few inches to their height.

I think looking at the rivalry between the broncs and dolphins that a 2nd NZ team will have the inside running for next off the rank. I'd leave another brissy team till last , making it 20 teams. Let this rivalry get established.

NZ2 won't be like the Dolphins. It'll be based in a regional city of a country that worships RU. The "derby" will be Aufklame vs regional city that is half the size of the Gold Coast. It won't generate 1 million TV viewers. Nor will it bring in 52k fans to the stadium.

That includes Telstra money for internet rights ( Last deal was $60m a season) - Making roughly $400m OF the $4.5b internet rights.

Leaves $4.1b - The press release when the rights were announced stated Marvel upgrade money was included.

The Victoria government is paying $250m for that. A 50/50 split is likely.

This leaves the TV money balance at $3.8 billion across 7 years - or $550m.

Now every year the deal won't be the same. So that includes around 20% inflation for the 2031 figure - So the deal is starting at way less then $550m.

Compare that to NRL that announced a per year amount of over $400m. That one will increase each year because the total is capped in the announcement.

2023 - is $400m cash
2024 - $412m cash
2025 - $424m cash
2026 - $436m cash
2027 - $449m cash
2028 - $462m cash
2029 - $475m cash
2030 - $489m cash
2031 - $503m cash

Now you add up the same period of time.

leaves $600m difference,

The last 4 years of the NRL in that period will be the new deal. I think it gets $100m extra with the new team.
