Curtis Rona 2014 - Joondalup Giants Junior
Royce Hunt 2017 - Willagee Junior
Jordan Pereira 2018 - Willagee Junior
Kurt De Lius 2021 - South Perth Junior
Jackson Topine 2021 - Ellenbrook Rabbitohs Junior
Josh Rogers 2023 - North Beach Junior

All in the last decade on no funding or pathway past Pirates.
Royce hunt is the only 1st grader there, and he is off the bench, the rest are rookies, its still great on the oily rag funds, but it doesn't state your case that the comp or juniors are competitive enough to cement 1st grade spots for any 1st grade club

They have phone companies
A couple of airlines
Mining company

Australian Government
They have a much better competitive competition in digicel cup, compared to any other comp just below Qcup, and NSWcup, it would be on par with flegg

Except it isnt. Aus govt has been funding pngrl since the early 2000’s, pays for its qlnd cup team and how many png players are in the nrl? Sure lots of people play the game there (never actually seen any stats on how many have you?) but most of them are under 5ft 8in and playing in bare feet. They aren’t making nrl anytime soon.

Reality is it’s PI’ers and kiwis by and large out of australian systems making nrl squads.
Pretty tall papuan, with the population they have there are bound to be some taller athletes, your just pigeon-holing the whole population

Completely moronic Pom. Has no club so complains about a city thousands of miles away. What a turd.
Massive steamer!... hell with all the travel he goes on about, why didn't he spend the cash and time to travel to homebush to watch the Pahs smash his lackluster Storm... atleast could've watched the st.mary games todays with all the affiliate states, i got only to watch one early this morning from finishing nightshift last night, WA 17s vs invitational, game was pretty neck and neck...
Instead carries on about how the crowd was pitiful, well with storm fans who dont travel no shÍt!

True, but the same can be said about you and everyone else from Perth who is against Brisbane 3 getting the 18th licence. We're all as biased and hypocritical as one another because we want the coveted 18th licence.
All correct, but unfortunately none of those areas are getting no.18, its PNG...aka Pasifika

How many League Juniors from Southern Brisbane are lost to the game by not having 4 teams to choose from in SEQ?

I can't imagine it being a significant amount.
I actually can, as they are more likely to become 1st graders sooner playing in the comps of QCup, than that of the NZ or Digicel comps... or any of the affiliated states comps... the juniors stemming from SEQ or Qld in general are more likely to get top30 contracts quicker being from those well established clubs, another SEQ team would have a greater significant effect on the player pool, which I'm all for, so a team like Brisbane (Easts) Tigers or Ipswich Jets would easily be a no brainer if you need more 1st graders to boost player numbers, but.. with the dolphins just added this season, are we wanting to go back to that well so soon, or should we look to another area that can do the same or similar and actually spread the footprint of the game...
No doubt ARLC are keen on more qld content, it only boosts Origin, but expansion needs to be expanding our reach as a game, not adding seq4, seq5 , qld6 etc

Australian father.
no I’m not, I’m being realistic, there might be 10k people playing rl (does anyone actually know number of registered rl players on png?) but if only 1000 of them are over 5‘10 then the chances of developing nrl first graders is diminished significantly.
It’s incredibly simplistic to say rl is their national sport so they will naturally be a strong production line for nrl.

For those wondering Rugby League has a huge participation rate in PNG. It’s part of the school curriculum across the country. Latest info is that there are 10000 senior players at a minimum across the country and numbers across all ages are booming. Sorry to disappoint the miserable turd from Perth but facts are facts.

Anybody wanting a reason for a PNG team just watch the PMs X111 game. Full Stadium. 4PM game EST. Played in a country where League is the number one game and is on the school curriculum in every school. I’m not saying they get the next franchise but there are compelling reasons for a club there by 2030. Rugby league can be an agent for change there. While our main competitor fights suburb by suburb (which is all it can do) we can become the preeminent code in the region with a top flight comp with three countries participating in it. That’ll drag in the sponsors, tv dollars and elite athletes.

Absolutely. I hope they don't rush it and bring in some png / Cairns bullshit. Do it right and it will be huge for the game.
