The sport survives on the smell of an oily rag in the UK, no teams in Manchester central, Liverpool, Birmingham. The one in London barely survives. Its a miracle any clubs in the ESL survive and still make a profit.. Two of them so happen to be in Hull, that's just how it is. Counting population in England is different to Australia too. Hull might have 260k within its city borders but there is probably another 1 million people within 30 minutes drive.

The NRL actually has the money, resources and profile in Australia to expand to larger cities that don't traditionally play or follow the sport. It's not comparable to the ESL.

That's some mental gymnastics you've performed to say merit doesn't matter, but dots on a map does.

I've seen you argue that the five metropolitan markets are more important than regional markets. If you truly believe that you would add Brisbane 3 and relocate Raiders to Perth. You're never consistent. Happy with nine Sydney clubs but think it's the end of the world if Brisbane has three. It's impossible to take you seriously.

I don't remember saying that but the five metro's probably are more important to potential sponsors and advertisers. Does that mean I think regional markets are not valuable? no

I'm also not against Brisbane 3, just don't think they should be next.

Without more teams and opportunity you wont get more depth, Im not sure how Gould thinks players will develop to NRL standard without NRl teams to get them there? As most elite player development is tied up in the 17 NRL clubs we simply wont see a wealth of talent outside the NRL rosters just waiting and hoping to get picked up other than in SL.

Apparently there are thousands of kids with no interest in RL at present, but once Brisbane get a third team, they will switch from soccer, basketball, RU and AFL, thus expanding the player pool.
