I can’t see it. Reasons below.

Western Corridor has some of QLD’s biggest companies especially in Toowoomba of all places. Commercially, Western Corridor into Darling Downs could “commercially and financially” sustain its own team IF big businesses were to put corporate dollars into a franchise. Think McNabs, Wagners, FKG’s etc. Western Corridor as a region doesn’t necessarily need East Tigers money.

Another point; Ipswich Jets for all their Q-Cup 1st grade failings in recent years are still developing juniors reasonably well and in volume. Pathways both in junior club land and schools under their umbrella is working.

Admittedly Tigers are slowly encroaching close to Ipswich/Jets area. Geographically, the nearest Tigers affiliated club is Flagstone Tigers (just out from Jimboomba). However this is more a failing from Souths Logan Magpies in streamlining Logan (it’s a big region and Maggies don’t have that much cash) than anything else.

This might change of course and Tigers might get QRL and NRL’s blessing to post up in the western corridor and bid for a license out of there but I’d be surprised if the governing bodies or East Tigers themselves would actually want to.
Well at least they wouldn’t be a parasite unlike your club

Great win by the sharks! Up up Cronulla!
Great win indeed. Kudos to their fans who attended the game and didn’t spend their time on thread topics which they supposedly “dislike”. Again, appreciate your ongoing support for the Bears by keeping the threads constantly moving.

Team 21 has to be a loooong time after team 20. The comp is dominated by 3 teams at the moment (winning the last 7 premierships between them and heavy favourites to make it 8 this year)
with a lot of mediocrity in the remaining sides and not a lot of scope for that domination to be threatened. Kudos of course to Penrith, Melbourne and Roosters for getting their shit together.

A period of consolidation has to occur before we expand again I'd think.

Yeah, well teams 18 and 19 are reportedly set to debut 2027-8, so I imagine we'll be adding the 20th team before 2032.

With that in mind, it might not be until 2040 that we add teams 21 & 22.

Assuming the next 3 teams are Perth, PNG & Christchurch (which seems likely from what we gather) and PNG AT LEAST limps through 10 years of Government funding - can we afford to wait until the late 2030s/early 2040s to add West Brisbane/Ipswich & Adelaide??

If not, does the NRL need to look again at mechanisms to further rationalize Sydney?

Yep there is 1 too many Sydney based clubs.

Adelaide Sharks. Pissing off less than 25,000 isn’t that much of a loss.
Well if one moves to Adelaide & PNG falls over and gets replaced by Western Corridor/Ipswich then that'd take a lot of pressure off the NRL to go past 20 teams.
