Most teams have 2 or 3 genuine gun batsman and the rest are trying to earn their stripes

I'm not saying I expect us to always have 7 batsmen capable of averaging 50 like the glory days. But when blokes can get into the team without even averaging 40 at shield level then clearly the depth isn't there. Not just of superstars but even just solid reliable test level bats.
