Would that be out? Wouldn't it be assessed as having made his ground? Different story of course if he was attempting a further run. I remember in 93/94 Ken Rutherford running out Sanjeewa De Silva at McClean Park by throwing the ball at his nuts basically, De Silva jumped, the ball cannoned into the stumps and he was given out. I thought though that may have changed it that if you were taking evasive action you'd be considered in.

I always thought that once a foot crosses the line it's safe regardless.

But is it evasive? He seems to always do it. I reckon it is his brake.

If the bat bounces up and feet in the air, that is out. Plenty of "lazy runouts" like it on youtube of bat touch grounded then raised with feet over the line but in the air.

Nicholls playing well.

Bug mistake to give him Maxwell to face early in his innings.

Yeah, if the bat is in the air after it's grounded then it's out I believe, not so for feet.

Either way, he's running a fine line.

Is Mitchell Marsh the full quid? Bowl short, hook for six... ahh, I know, I'll bowl another half tracker. My word. Dumb de dumb at Eden Park with its boundaries.

Is that the rule? I'll check at lunch. I thought something has to be grounded bar evasive action. Because he does get his feet in first. The vids on youtube possibly havn't landed over the line first.

Seeing as Nicholls seems to be going well, and assuming he continues this way, and seeing as we're built around an explosive McCullum at the top of the order, would this work?

1- Munro
2- Guptill
3- Williamson
4- Taylor
5- Nicholls

Guppy... top innings, but boy, what a silly way to throw it away. Another 5-10 overs of that partnership and you could start thinking 400.

Yes, yes it would. The only issue there is I guess Elliott misses out, and on NZ decks he can be difficult. He's a better bowler than Munro.

It seemed like everyone was trying to run him out today, including him

Didn't you hear? He has apparently finally lived up to his enormous talent - never mind that he wasted the last 3 overs scratching to a 100, and conceded 13 runs in the last over to lose the match...

Not 100% sure, but I have a feeling that's the rule, otherwise a player could comfortably make his ground and just be in the air mid stride running normally and could be out due to bad timing.

Could be wrong.

Yes. But Nicholls can keep and Grunter can bowl.

Yeah, but his last name is Marsh so all other arguments are voided.
