Whose the bloke in the Pakistan dressing room with the black hair and grey beard?

Looks like someone out of guess who?

Lyon has no variation but he's the best we have in regards to putting the ball in the right areas, those right areas are also hitting areas though, so without any variation he can go for plenty if the pitch isn't helping

What? Mate, the right areas for off spin are not "pitching on middle and leg". Nor are the right areas "everywhere but the rough", which seems to be something he deliberately avoids bowling into.

He's a very dumb spinner IMO and he has absolutely no variation

Imagine if waqar younis hadn't had a couple of gorillas on himself getting out reverse sweeping. We'd be f**ked right now.

That's the main problem. I'm honestly not even sure the bloke has an arm ball....he just bowls it faster. That's not the same thing Gary....

Miller had a killer arm-ball that he took many wickets with at tests and Shield cricket, as well as the ability to seam the ball. Debuted at 34, had limited opportunities from the selectors during the Taylor/S Waugh years and was unfortunately made the scapegoat from the famous 2001 test series vs India, never to be selected again. Averaged 26.15 in a more competitive era

Had he been given the same opportunities as Lyon has at test level and played in the same era, Miller would've easily gone on to be a 300+ test wicket bowler.

Obviously not pitching middle or leg but we've seen what he can do when he puts it in the rough and I am saying out of the spinners we have, he's the best at being able to do that

That says more about our depth of spinners than anything else

I rated Funky. Great bowler, and a really smart bowler as well.

So, we take the extra 8 overs....and we choose to bowl Nic Maddinson? I'm sure Shafiq and Wahab are really crapping the pants over facing him.

Same. 2001 Australian test cricketer of the year, extremely underrated bowler, very versatile cricketer in an era dominated by Warne and McGrath.

On the topic of Lyon, I'm not going to write him off just yet, but if he doesn't produce the goods for the remainder of this series, I do feel the selectors are going to have to make a tough call and cut him from the tour of India. He is going to get rissolled by Kohli and the other Indian batsmen, even on a rank-turner such as the Nagpur pitch vs South Africa last year.
