I agree with this.

McGrath also played against better batsmen imo. Test cricket was in a far healthier position than it is now.
That era of Australian domination deserves even more reverence as we were beating some very good teams. South Africa had some absolute legends in the early 2000’s. Pakistan also had some greats so did Sri Lanka, WI were still competing with Lara. New Zealand also weren’t walkovers and off course there was India.

one more to go at the Gabba which will no doubt be another short test match

5 day test matches are pretty rare
I reckon its a chance to be another 2-dayer like last year.

West Indies batting under lights has record low scores written all over it.

Too many blokes being picked on reputation rather than ability IMO. I'd like to shake things up for the final test:

Steve Smith
Kurtis Patterson
Hilton Cartwright
Jack Edwards
Glen Maxwell
Peter Handscomb
James Faulkner (He still has what it takes)
Mathew Wade (WK/C)
Jackson Bird
Lance Morris
Ashton Agar

Plenty of options with the ball and we bat really deep.

on a serious note, Travis Head has a very good habit of getting runs when everyone else struggles

He got 100+ in this match when the next highest was 50. Similarly in

Leeds 2023
Brisbane v SA last summer
Hober v England in 2022

I would rather go this way bring a few out of retirement and see how we go.
We might get some sandpaper, best 9 in test cricket history, and the 125km quicks to do the job on a bouncy gabba deck.

1. Cam Bancroft
2, Marcus Harris
3. Rob Quiney
4. Alex Doolan
5. Nic Maddinson
6. Hilton Cartwright
7. Graham Manou (K)
8. John Hastings

10. Chadd Sayers
11. Bryce McGain
