Every post you make shows you know absolutely nothing about cricket - why do you persist?

Lol so it's wrong to say an away average of over 50 is poor.
Rightio then champ.

Keep crying, maybe your tears will bring rain and save NZ.

In guys who have played a minimum of 72 innings only Bradman, Sutcliffe, Barrington, Weekes and Hammond average more than Smith lol.

Maybe he is actually a pretty good batsman. Crazy I know

He is, clearly - but he has a ficked up technique that will continue to get exploited in conditions where the bowlers (pace or spin) get decent assistance - yes everyone has difficulties there, but the disparity between his performances will be greater than some others

And yes, the Don is developing a special record - making the most of his opportunities - and should be shouting Illingworth a drink after this test (in an appropriate way, I accept mistakes happen, just laughable given how they usually ignore no balls)

Those guys are plodders just like ;-)

Great day for us, Don Voges has plenty of luck and fought hard early doors but you have to give him some credit for pushing it through and getting a big not out.

He's done well in the Windies  got a couple of big scores on flat decks in England, and done well in RSA which is similar to home... yes, you're a regular Einstein

An individual who bats through the day is always a good effort.

We have BMac at #5.

Yeah don't know why people are like but but but he got a break. Very few scores are chance less. Having a bit of luck and then cashing in is what good batsmen do.

Also I can't imagine a better start to a career than what Voges has had but at the same point in his career Bradman had 700 more runs and averaged more.

Tommy's great grandfather was criticising his technique though lol

We need not bother I think.
JJ is having a meltdown.

His record in Asia is pretty good. He would want to ton up there but for an Australian those are good numbers.

I mean he's scored in England, RSA and Asia. What else do you want

Watched a lot of the day, he was excellent - maybe half a dozen false shots, innings of real quality

Don is having the time of his life

He averages about 40 there in a handful of tests - nothing special, sorry

Lol averaging 40 in away country isn't good enough - f**k me lol.
And that's coming from a guy who questions other people's cricket knowledge

I f**king hate the way Joe Root bats I think it's ugly and its mind boggling that he isn't off balance when driving but hey it works for him and he is scoring runs.

Technique is hugely overrated outside of footwork. If technique mattered Ian Bell would have been a great. Cricket is a mental game more than anything. Anyone who can face an international quick has the eye to be a great player. Don Bradman's insane desire to score runs was as important as anything in separating him from the pack.

Kohli has struggled in test cricket comparatively to odi and t20. He certainly has a more traditional technique to Smith

"The last three Tests in which Williamson has faced a decent pace attack on a pitch offering them some assistance he has made scores of 0, 6, 22, 9 and 16 for a total of 53 runs at an average of 11.
Nine months ago in England, the Kiwi first drop plundered the Poms on a flat deck at Lord’s but then, confronted with a trickier pitch at Leeds, he made 0 and 6.
In Australia, Williamson flayed the home attack on batsman-friendly surfaces at Brisbane and Perth, before failing in both innings once conditions became more difficult at Adelaide, making 22 and 9."

technique is important but its not everything especially if you dont have the eye for it at top level

Marto had virtually no footwork and he had a decent international career
