Core of the team - Williamson, Rutherford, Boult, Southee, Anderson, Boult, Bracewell and perhaps Sodhi is young, and talented...

I really like the fact that in Boult, Southee and Wagner we finally have three front-line quality seam bowlers and not just a bunch of hacks trying to support Shane Bond.

Yep, there's a lot to like about them - just a shame we don't have a Bond to lead the attack... I really like Boult, he could be the best of them imo

Bloody hell did Trent Boult have an extra serving of Weet-Bix this morning? He's bowling thunderbolts.

NZ on top at this stage, stumps day 2

NZ 6/609ec
WI 2/69

WI will be looking to avoid the follow on score of 410,
then chase down 609 and build a little lead going into day 5

giving us a bit much credit, we lost 9.

Yes, that is an exellent plan for the Windies, they might look to get a good lead end of day 4 and put pressure on us

Did I hear correctly this morning that Ross Taylor averages 45??

That would almost be our highest ever wouldn't it??

at this point in time dead equal with Crowe

Depends on your criteria, Donnelly likely to be well ahead... and if he counts I suspect Rodney Redmond?

Edit - just checked, Donnelly is only 52, but he's the best of anyone who's played more than one or two tests - John F Reid above Taylor too - but a bunch at around 45 - including Crowe, Turner, Taylor, Richardson etc

That blows me away... considering how reckless he is.

I always thought he averaged in the mid 30s.

If he can mature as a cricketer and take out that reckless aspect of his game he could go up into the 50s.

Fitting that he's level with Crowe... Probably his biggest supporter.

When he plays his best he eliminates those schoolboy slogs, as he did for the last two days.

I have no doubt that Crowe and Turner were better players - but for different reasons their records aren't as good as they might have been - and Donnelly and Burt Sutcliffe must have been brilliant too - I think Taylor's at that level, and injury etc aside his record should improve

Southee gets his 4th 108/5

SOme loose WIndies shots, but always been that way with them, previous generations had more talent!

Future looks good with Southee and Boult, I reckon

Crowe played in an era a lot tougher for batsman, every nation had at least one world class quick or some very good spinners. Crowe would average in the 50's quite comfortably if he played today easily the best Kiwi batsman i have seen he was all class. Shame about his knee.

Oh by the way the Windies are absolutely disgraceful nearly this whole team should be dumped, time and time again they just don't produce the goods or seem to care.

You lot say that every time we do well  Despite the issues with Bangladesh I don't believe we're that bad - we gave England a tough time at home, and performed ok in the UK... at home I reckon we can trouble anyone at the moment

Chanderpaul is great, and Best gave it his all...

Feel sorry for Chanderpaul, he's all class having to play with this undisciplined rabble. Best gives his all but really the rest are a disgrace. Bravo has ability but needs some of Chanderpaul to rub of on him.

Not bagging your boys i really rate Southee and Boult but i don't rate Wagner that highly. The young leggie looks raw but i have seen chanders give Warne a pumping as well. The Kiwi's should beat the Windies and beat them well. It's just to see what the Windies have disintegrated too.

7/194 Southee 4 and Boult 3

Agree on Wagner, but Bracewell hasn't done enough in recent times - there are a few other young ones around - but we can build a decent team around Southee, Boult, Williamson, Taylor and Anderson I reckon

Sodhi averages 50 with the ball in first class cricket, so picked on promise, has done nothing yet - but indications are he could be good
