So this isn't as paltry as other paltry efforts.....

"Huge Dragons Army".. always fails to live up to the 20,000+ figure.

mate, i was there and it was some of the most atrocious weather for football i've experienced.

the fact that near on 17k turned out is a miracle.

parramatta fans are just as fair weather loving as saints fans. in fact, sydney siders in general aren't too keen on standing in the rain.

The capacity of Win is only 20k, so given the conditions and the quality of opposition, it was an awesome turnout.

2006 Round 25
TOTAL: 81,960
AVG: 20,490

2005 Round 25
TOTAL:119,938
AVG:17,134
Source: http://stats.rleague.com

We need only 37,978 to arrive through the gates today to eclipse last years total.

Predictions:
19,800 @ Parra
7,500 @ Mt Smart
8,200 @ Telstra

That's only 35,500, and no offence to Soufs or NZ but I was being hopeful with those figures too :(

Bugger.

Last year 19k turned up to see the dragons play the sharks at WIN in R1 of the finals - which was the ground record. It started pouring as soon as the premier league match finished. So considering this, 16k was excellent. If it wasn't for the rain it would have been a capacity crowd.

Warriors v Roosters crowd has been given as 12,711, so an excellent last round effort for the team across the ditch.

Means now after 5 games:
Brookvale - 20,153
Canberra - 21,255
EnergyAustralia - 23,655
WIN - 16,897
Mt Smart - 12,711

Total: 94,671
Average: 18,934

With two games to go....

Hopefully we can get another 24,329 people between the Souths and Parramatta games today to finish the round with a 17K average...

With the round complete:
Sea Eagles v Bulldogs - Brookvale: 20,153
Raiders v Storm - Canberra: 21,255
Knights v Panthers - EnergyAustralia: 23,655
Dragons v Sharks - WIN: 16,897
Warriors v Roosters - Mt Smart: 12,711
Rabbitohs v Cowboys - Telstra: 8,914
Eels v Broncos - Parramatta: 20,353

Total: 123,938
Average: 17,705

So that means now after 173 games, 2,670,456 people have attended NRL games in Season 2006, giving a crowd average of 15,436 with one round to go.

If the Doggies play the Eels in the first round of the final... 50,000 should be broken, maybe even 60,000. If only we could get crowds like that every now and then during the year:(

Shame about the weather in Wollongong, might've been five 20K+ in the same round, which has never happened.

Just a shame there wasn't one really big crowd, Broncos at home, Dogs v Tigers at SA, to really boost the average.

Not sure about a capacity crowd in Brisbane, but the crowd will be hard to pick as next weeks game could possibly be Shane Webcke's last game at home.

I'd expect mid-30,000s at this stage.

I hope theres 40k. The bigger the crowd the more likely they are to win (this rule does not apply in New Zealand).

Here's hoping the novelty factor draws the crowds in Round 25 for the Tigers, Roosters and Panthers matches.

Tigers v Rabbitohs at Leichhardt has the capability of drawing 18K if its a fine day, especially with the Tigers allowing all Rabbitohs members in for free.

Roosters at the SCG, I'm not quite sure why they are taking the match there, but it could be a winner for them in terms of drawing a big crowd. Hopefully the Dragon's fans turn up in force to see their team into the finals.

Meanwhile at Penrith, CUA Stadium is finally finished so will the Penrith fans turn out to see their new stadium?

Ideally we need a crowd total of 113,784 to ensure we only finish 1,000 behind last years crowd average. Anything more would be an advantage.

I'll certainly be there. The predictions of 15,000 or so in this thread seem about right. It would be nice if we can push it up closer to 20,000.
