i went to an a league game in sydney.

it was a joke.

one set of fans in one section giving the finger to another group in another section, pretening they wanted to fight each other when there was no way to get to each other.

it was really funny.

I go to almost every game of Sydney FC and stand in the Cove and I can tell you they make more noise than any NRL "Army" or supporter group.

That's what soccer 'atmosphere' is about... making as much noise as possible, because you don't pay attention to what happens on the field.

NRl crowds are much more attentive to the sport, and focus on the on-field activity.

I went to the Manly game and it was the quietest in ages. I think everyone was stunned that Orford and Lyon were out, plus it was freezing.

they were the ones i was making fun of.

wow.

the game against newcastle last year was a classic.

it was just like Premier League only the soccer was s**t and the crowd under a half.

is it any wonder why there is so much crowd violence at soccer games, esp. england.

imagine having to watch something that boring for 90 minutes, youd be pretty angry by full time too.

and the Premier League is lightyears ahead of our own local competition.

i brushed the whole 2nd half and spent it in the box drinking and eating.

the best bit was laughing at the crowd trying to drum up an atmosphere, really funny

in PNG the crowds are virtually silent because they are so into the game. could hardly say they weren't passionate supporters though

oh yeh i meant aussie crowds! i think aussie crowds in general are really lazy.

yeh the ESL games seem to have awesome atmosphere. i think the singing and what not has bled over from soccer.

Soccer violence in England is due to the supporters going out for at least 4 pints of lager piss and then having to watch a dull game for 90 mins and not being allowed to drink in there seats as it is banned which makes the supporter both tired and irritable and the need to kick off.

Oh and do the people who got in or free still count as part of the crowd.

I assume they do.
