well, if it was held at SFS, it would've got at least another 5-10,000 more people.

Based on what? The lead-up weather was hardly much better this year, and the crowd this year was THREE THOUSAND more than last years.... AT THE SFS.

A great weekend all around, regardless of where games were played, good stuff all those who got out there.

The Weather was worse last year, and the Roosters and Dragons had ONE win between them by that stage. Vastly different set of circumstances.

well, do you guys think its time then that two other teams should play on ANZAC day? And which teams should they be?

They should have promoted the bugger out of it and played it at the SCG this year (Anzac game).

I make it as fourth best average for a round (depending on how you deal with double headers)

The lowest crowd was 15,229 - just short of the record of Round 1 this year, 15,424

A few things we should of discovered from this Anzac day?

1. Venue has to be SFS, due to proximity of the march the main reason
2. Venue is chosen by NRL, teams do not choose
3. It is not a home game for either team,, NRL contol gate and split profits evenly, ie Finals
4. Both sets of supporters can use season ticket for free entry
5. Has to be on FTA TV to compete with AFL, (Fox has been compensated for losing a game by NYC which is getting ratings and I doubt they have paid extra for)
6. No media bans allowed
7. Peter Doust kept well away from anything to do with it

Can someone tell me why an improvement on crowd numbers is still being waxed lyrical by some on here as a failure?

Tim.

Sure it improved on last year, but this game really should be getting closer to 30,000 instead of closer to 20,000. If they got it right (i.e play it at SFS and split the gate each year) and have them promote the hell out of it (most of my mates, even though they are general/casual league supporters around here didn't even realise the game was on).

Its gone backwards since 2005/06

Good to see that season average comfortably back over 18,000.

May take a slight hit next week I think. Although I hope all the venues could sneak a few thousand more that what i've predicted.

18,000 @ EAS
15,000 @ CUA
18,000 @ ANZ (Sat)
12,000 @ Mt Smart
10,000 @ ANZ (Sun)

Average - 14,600

It's be good to see Souths get a decent number, but given their form and the Cows being the away team is there a chance of sub-10K?

5:30 in Newcastle is dumb IMO. Penrith game should be 5:30 and Newc 7:30 if anything.

NZ v Canberra will get 13-14k, WT v Brisbane should manage 20k for mine...

The rest look right.

probly cause in 05 and 06 we got over 30 000 to it, these were years where at least 1 side was doing ok. Last year was woeful weather and one win beteen the two sides, this year the weather was better, roosters were going well and only got 21K, which could have been at least 25k and closer to 30 with a decent bit of promotion if held at the SFS

Apparently 12,000 tickets have been pre-sold to the Knights game already (according to someone in the match thread) which is a decent effort.. I'm hoping for around 20,000 but I suppose it will depend on the weather and the walk-up crowd.
