2010+11 Jerseys, Logos & Sponsors

That's what has stopped me buying an Aussie jersey in the new synthetic material - the sponsorship logo plastered on the front. I hesitently have a NSW jersey from 5yrs ago that has the Wizard logo plastered on the front and a Country jersey from 3yrs ago with the Carlton Draught logo on the front (I love the jerseys, but am not a fan of big sponsor's logos on the front of rep jerseys).

I was looking at maybe getting a 2010 NSW jersey while in NSW a few weeks ago, but a) I don't like sponsors logos on the front (as I've just stated!), and b) I really don't like the green NIB patch on the sleeves. Green should not be on a NSW jersey. It took me years to not-mind it being on Newcastle jerseys!

Solution: Get yourself a Classic brand retro Blues jumper, in good old fashioned warm cotton and void of crappy sponsors logos...

PSP was originally subliminated into the jersey in navy, 2006 I think.

Love how the Titans just can't help themselves and have to have their current colours in the Heritage jersey. To me it shows a bit of a lack in respect to the whole concept.

Really?

For a start, I don't think Heritage Round has to necessarily mean teams wear their first ever jersey, to me it should be a homage to any successful era for a club. I'd love nothing more to see the 'Dogs don the squared double vee like the 80's in heritage round.

I like the Titans concept, acknowledging a previous GC incarnation, but maintaining the fact they're still a new club. It's a nice simple jersey design as well, not like some we see...

I know they don't have to wear their first ever jersey (our heritage jersey is testament to that) but most people wouldn't even know that the GC jersey has the same lines scheme the seagulls used, why not go the whole hog and use their colours. I think a lot of the younger generation would look at it and just think it's an old school, rah rah looking titans jersey. Why not even use the Giants scheme???? I don't know what rep colours or scheme the GC area has used in local league, maybe even something along those lines. It just seems to me mate like the Titans didn't put much thought into it and were more worried about their own brand recognition than truly wearing a jersey that had some sort of genuine heritage intention. Might be just me, I don't know mate.

Yeah, gotta say the current Titans first and third jerseys are pretty f**king poor efforts. Their heritage and away strips aren't bad though.

that 'thing' with the spiral waves or whatever it is, looks utterly sh*thouse. As bad as the cows home jersey.

I think you're worrying too much beave. If they ran out in a replica Giants/Seagulls jersey it'd just confuse 80% of fans. Using the old design with Titans colours is a good compromise imo.

very disappointed.

That jersey should be our alternate jersey.

IMO, our jersey break down should be:

Steelers Jersey (as pictured) - once per year at WIN Stadium (Steelers heritage round), 3 or 4 times per year as required (against Dogs and a couple of others...we often seem to wear it in Canberra-last year excepted)

Blood and bandages (or butchers stripes) vs Dogs in heritage round (St.George heritage) and in the Charity Shield

Red V - at all other times.

Get rid of the horrible wolverine slash jersey FFS! And why, if you were going to have steelers heritage round against the broncos a few weeks ago, would you not wear the jersey pictured? Absolute idiots.

I could live with that.

I bet if Australia and NZ played each other in the NRL one of them would be made to wear an alternate.

Agree. Alternate jerseys are something that just annoys the hell out of me.

Canberrra for example - don't really need an alternate jersey. Which other team clashes with lime green FFS?

The Tigers- just play with orange jersey and black V on the front - problem solved - wouldn't need alternate jersey.

Obviously they sell the jerseys as a way of trying to make more money out of merchandise, but does this really work? I mean if a club only had one jersey - or only wore their alternate jerseys when they clashed with another team's colours ( which should be once in a blue moon ) - would their merchanside sales be that much poorer?

Also - who controls when a team wears an alternate jersey - or why they even have an alternate jersey? The NRL? The clubs themselves?

IMHO this should be another thing the IC takes control of. Making a team run out in the same colours for the vast majority of their games could only help build a bigger following of league clubs when people can immediately identify who is playing who ( particulalry for those new to the game).

There would be a significant drop in merchandise sales. Many hardcore fans will buy both the home and away strips, and then there is also the heritage strips that bring in a fair amount of dollars. The IC will not change this - every other sport barring the AFL have this (and even then they have different jerseys specifically for clashes but they don't get the merch money out of it).

As for the Tigers playing out of orange with a black V - I'm sure the Western Suburbs Magpies contingent would love that!

As for you question about control over what jersey is worn... I believe the clubs submit what jersey they are going to wear and then the NRL accepts or denies based on colour clashes. The home team is given priority over what jersey is worn.

Some clubs have a geniune 'away' jersey - such as the Sharks and Eels, whilst others only have an alternative for a clash - Canberra.
