Alright, C9 and the NRL are monkeys of the highest order.

Last nights game, Im thinking no more than 10,000 here. Then, once in a bluemoon, they show the end opposite the broadcast end, and it looks 80% full, both tiers.

Im at a loss to understand why that end is not the broadcast end; that, or sell out the broadcast end seats first. How can they not see the simplicity of it, and how much better it would look on TV?

I have thought this for a while. There's even more of a difference for early season day games because everyone sits on the broadcast side to sit out of the sun.

Look at the two crowds previous to this one and look at it in the context it deserves to be looked in

Very true. But all that has happened is the very poor crowd figures of the past couple of seasons have improved to become just poor tonight.

I think its great that the people of Adelaide turned out tonight and they should be applauded. But if we are serious about having a team there then we need a much bigger crowd showing up to show their is real interest for a team in the NRK.

For me a crowd of 10,000 doesn't show sufficient interest. I am not sure we shoulld be playing matches in Adelaide.

10,000 was probably close to capacity, the entire eastern side of the ground is shut for reconstruction, fool.

It easily beat the Hindmarsh Stadium crowd for Cronulla v NQ last year (who were both similarly low on the ladder) of 8,547.

The capacity of the ground was around 34.000 before construction started. While a fair part of the eastern side was closed it did not reduce the capacity of the crowd by 24,000 for tonights game.

If you had opened your eyes during the coverage you would have noticed a fair bit of vacant area.

Never mind "claims". Attendance stats and Roy Morgan polls which are professionally run polls show us that the Dogs and tigers are Sydney's best supported with the Dragons added if we talk of nationwide support.

The Bunnies flatter to deceive.

Heres the link.. this takes you through the last 8 years and shows "people claiming they support a certain team" through the good years and the bad.

Parra easily have the most people calling themselves fans and even their lowest score is high.... Dragons come in next over the years and dogs follow...not far behind are the tigers..Roosters and Rabbits are pretty close...although the rabbits havent had any success in recent years.

Penrith,Sharks and Manly are the worst really..Penrith are a huge disappointment. (alot of of expat traditional teams supporters out there)..

There was a time back in the 90's when they pulled over 20,000 fans to games played in Adelaide.

For me 10,000 is not a good crowd.

There was a time in the 90's RL was on FTA Nationally, RL was in the media nationally and RL looked to have a bright National future. Since then SA has been conned out of their team and the game became a non entity outside of two states.

Its a start, sadly it will now be ignored till next years one off game and then we will wonder why RL isn't more popular in Adelaide and capable fo drawing 20k.

phew Timmah looks like our bid is safe after all!

Considering that one side of Adelaide Oval is currently a construction site why wasn't the playing field moved closer to the open grandstand?

The Bulldogs South Australia deal was between the club and SACA. This is unlike the Sharks deal which was with the South Australian Government.

As such because it was with SACA, naturally the game was only going to ever be played at Adelaide Oval. Honestly, history shows Rugby League matches have generally been more popular at Adelaide Oval than Hindmarsh.... The largest ever league crowd at Hindmarsh was last years game between the Sharks and Cowboys which got 8,547.

NRL Average:
Adelaide Oval: 21 Matches - 13,479 Avg
Hindmarsh Stadium: 6 Matches - 7,474 Avg

Oh yeah and on the reduced capacity, the total available 'capacity' for yesterdays game was just over 14,000.

Case in point.

As for the earlier assertion of regular 20k crowds for RL in Adelaide, there was one 27k crowd and the rest were 17k or less... all at the same 34k capacity Adelaide Oval.

10k from 14k available is fantastic.

What's disgraceful is Manly only getting 10k in RL heartland, and Penrith today only drawing 9,983 with their form... really poor stuff when an Adelaide game between 12th and the spooners outdraws them.

9,983 at Penrith.

Woeful crowd considering there would have been a few Kiwis in the crowd.

Atrocious Penrith fans.

Adelaide and Perth can do better without a friggin team.
