well done venge..
If I was a billionaire I would buy Parra but they would have to have my head on the jerseys similar to this.

I wouldn't say stinks, but I wonder how many people will use it and get any value from it, it is not a great deal then maybe its costs to the club could be used to enhance the value for members is some more specific or targeted way.

That's a much better discussion. You may be right. I suppose it depends on how much people want to go out of their way to use the discounts available. They are certianly discounts that we wouldn't be able to access before, so maybe it's a good thing. If it's anything like what I get in the post, well then, it may be handy and it may not.

It's better than nothing, and it costs us nothing. If anyone can save a few bucks using one of the discount cards, and the sponsor can see people using it, then it works both ways to helping the club.
But then again (and I don't include you in this Mark) there will always be those who can't see the good in anything.

Haven't read the rest of the reaction yet, but got my members pack over Christmas.

My thoughts:
- the cap's fine enough... sure it's very yellow but nothing a bit of blue texta won't fix.
- the scarf is the same... ok enough and nothing a bit of blue texta won't fix if people think it's too yellow.
- the yellow bag... it's ok, wasn't expecting a full-size backpack anyway, it'll probably handy enough for carrying gym shoes or a change of clothes or stuff like that.
- the sticker... fair enough, I probably won't use it but don't mind it being in there
- the lanyard... better than last years, at least it's in a few colours, and the membership card is pre hole-punched if the club wants us to wear them for going to the toilet/bar/food outlets at the ground again.
- the ambassadors card... it's there to make use out of, can't complain if you don't. I've spotted one place that I eat at regularly giving 2-for-1 meals, though it might be a bit hard for some regional Eels members to find a way to use it their towns.

At least there was no throw-away instantly junk this year (like the tattoo stickers) - though I' will throw away the lanyard as soon as I can be sure that we won't be required to wear our tickets around our neck once we're inside the gates of our particular section.

*** Forgot about the book - it's a good production as always.
*** Forgot about the keyring - I don't think there was one in my pack...

The trouble is trying to find a blue texta. Parra matters has pre ordered them all.

which reminds me, i'd like to also wish Batrman a very merry Christmas and happy new year.
Thanks Stags. And to you too. ;-)

FYI I gave up on emailing the club, when an email I sent earlier in the year (regarding my Members two cents about the Cayless retirement leaks) went unacknowledged, and received no response.

Unfortunately, having a whinge on the forum for some members is pretty much the only valid avenue they can hope will have some effect. That's if the issue gets picked up by some of the pollies (from whatever side) seeking to get our votes for election, or our friends at the Daily Tele....

As for having rants at the AGM, I understand that neither of us could attend on that particular weeknight? And as others have said, the AGM isn't really the place to bring up concerns about smaller management matters like membership packs etc.

Indeed people whinged about this last year. It is disappointing that last years whinging, as you put it, ammounted to nothing.

As I said earlier, perhaps the best place to raise this particular issue would be to raise it at one of the regular members forum. :sarcasm:
What a fantastic idea...:D. Maybe three years after the idea was floated, and two and a half years after it was promised, we might end up closer to it during 2011 - and preferably outside of the election suck-up cycle so it has more meaning?

Merry Xmas and a happy new year to you as well Bart. No, seriously.

As for when to bring up discussions about membership issues - there have been some who think it is not the right time to bring it up at the FC AGM. There are others who think it should be. It has been both mentioned and discussed that the promised Fan Forums have failed to eventuate.
Therefore, I can't see anything wrong with questioning those at the FC AGM as to why these forums havn't eventuated.
There are a couple of members of the FC board who have made flat out promises to hold these events. Furthermore, they were promises made not 2 years ago when change was in the air.
Any of those who are complaining about this now, who went to the FC AGM and didn't mention it, should rue their lost opportunity.
Unfortunately, I couldn't make it that night. I don't know for sure whether I would have brought it up myself, but it sure annoys me that nothing has happened in the 2 years since these promises were made by those who we placed our trust in to run this club.

Can't blame them for not holding the fan forums. There'd be too much whinging at them.

Also do you really think they care what any of us think.

Not sure.
When they told me they did, and promised they would hold the fan forums, I believed them.
Maybe I'm too trusting.
They've since told me they will still hold the fan forums. The more negative publicity they get for not holding them, the more it works against them.

So, Maroubra, I have no idea what they are thinking about their fans tbh.

I agree. If I was attending the FC AGM I would have asked about the promised fan forums. However I think Staggs had a bit of a fail by implying that discussion of club issues here should only take place if backed up by attendance and questions at the FC AGM. Or at least that's the point I took away from his attempted sarcasm...

Agree. There was no opportunity to have a vote on FC Directors at this AGM, and I favour putting the elected on notice throughout their term. Since emails to the club didn't work last year, posting issues on websites like this to bring public embarrassment and hopefully action on promises from those elected seems as good an approach as any imo. (Especially since the promises were made on here two-plus year ago.)

Unfortunately, I couldn't make it that night. I don't know for sure whether I would have brought it up myself, but it sure annoys me that nothing has happened in the 2 years since these promises were made by those who we placed our trust in to run this club.

Agree. Makes you just not want to believe the next lot of promises... unless we choose to live in a la-la land with some supporters, who seem to not like anything critical being said about the club or those in charge these days (not directed at you at all Suity).
