In a dead rubber...where he was allowed to get away with murder.

I've never seen a player be allowed to get up and walk literally 5 metres off the mark to play the ball...ever.
Dead rubber or not he was amazing that night, no other stand out bar him. He was awesome that night.

Even if he was able to get off the mark (which I don't remember) it was only because the players and the ref couldn't keep up with his carnage.

I think he's been a gun for NSW and have always been critical when he's been left out of the side but he's way too loose to be defending middle field. No doubt in the world he's great in attack but you just can't afford to be missing tackles in the middle of the field it's the most crucial position.

Here's just a few videos of why I hate him defending in the middle third;

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OzveckjYPsE&feature=related

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ZX_ba5bmTs

The sad thing is some people will watch that second video and call it 'great pressure' but it's such a low percentage play. He falls off twice as many tackles and opens up twice as many holes in that second video than he does actually making a tackle or applying pressure.

I think his role is best coming off the bench and like you said just going kamikaze style, playing on the fringes and if the lock needed a rest then for a 10 minute period sure but no more. It's suicide to put someone like Watmough in the middle of the field up against Cameron Smtih. As much as it'll result in tries and linebreaks it's also just easy metres and puts us on the back foot.

Excellent points, and I agree about Watmough. You could have also done another video summary of his brain explosions during SOO. People see a couple of great runs from him during a game and class him as a legend, while overlooking the poor defensive efforts, brain explosions and just plain stuff ups. I'd be happy if he was never picked in SOO again.

Let me try this again

1.Stewart (Big game experience, played in three grandfinals and played rep footy before. Josh Dugan is a good young kid but atm he is number 2)
2.Uate
3.Lawrence (Right side, best defender of the centres up for selection so i would give him the unenviable task of marking Inglis)
4.Jennings (Devastating attacker and can create for himself given space)
5.Hayne
6.Soward/Carney/Gidley/Maloney/Mullen/Campese
7.Pearce
8.Gallen
9.Farrah (best we have atm, Ennis has had his shot, only played four games and lost us two of them)
10.TLL (Has played well in the blue jersey before)
11.Bird (Left fringe)(He is like our GI, shit club player but turns up big time in SOO)
12.Scott (Right fringe)
13.Watmough (Tight)(needs to play 80, second best forward behind Gallen)

14.Gidley (if not 5/8)
15.Williams (Investment in the future)
16.Mannah (shown more at this level than most other props we have put in)
17.Lewis

This is easily the worst team so far.

Leave out the CC medalist from last year who's been in the form of his life. His brother should not be there though. He has been surpassed by Dugan.

You cant even narrow it down to 2 5/8s.

Mannah sucks.

Hayne sucks.

Farah chokes.

Lewis should start.

Backrow is....average. In the one area where NSW are strong you come up with that?

Gidley still in the side.

Pearce.....??

Yes, Hayne has been nothing but ordinary when playing for NSW

Thats O.K though. If no Manly players are pick it will give us a strong side during Origin period. Hell looks most will be pick from the Raiders anyway.

lol....get over yourself. Do you honestly think NSW supporters don't want to see the strongest NSW side selected, and therefore try to stop a humiliating 7 straight series loss, because of a hatred of a particular team? FMD. :?

For the record, I'd like to see G Stewart in the side, and wouldn't be concerned if Brett was in there as well, although my preference would be for a fit Dugan to have first shot. Watmough though? NO. Granted, he can be a damaging runner but at that level NSW can't afford his defensive lapses & brain explosions, IMO. Just too much of a meathead.

In the last three seasons Brett Stewart has been fully fit manly has made the grand final three times. Coincidence?

Atleast i can admit the 5/8 position is the most widely contested position in the side.

Mannah sucks.

Fastest play the ball in the league and the only prop i have ever known to win a motm award off the bench.

Hayne sucks.

Quite frankly your just a extremely bias canberra fan, to think canberra would have more reps in the NSW team than Manly is amazing.

I'd like to ask you guys who you think shouldn't be there?

Obviously i'm not asking you to name every single player in the comp, just the ones that have been there recently or are getting repeated mentions by us or the selectors.

My list is

Ennis
Creagh
Soward
Dugan, nothing really against him as a player, he will be a fixture eventually. I just think at the moment he isnt a part of a our strongest back 5.
Gidley

These players (bar Dugan and maybe Soward) have had their shot and consistently proven that they have nothing at this level. I would love to include Pearce in this list but surely as Summer follows Spring he will be there, hopefully this is the year that the same doesn't apply to Gidley. I rate his toughness, fitness and heart, but unless he is playing 80 minutes at hooker he just isnt good enough.

I dont really hate Manly (not more than the normal non Manly fan does). My first point was the omission of Glenn Stewart from Pazza's team...then you get emo about not including Brett.

Relax.

Relax.

When there is mile long line up of Backrow forwards in NSW someone is going to miss out. If that is Glen so be it. But if you read your comment you said Dugan has surpassed Brett.

I wanted to highlight what he did last when he was at his best. Don't get me wrong Dugan will be a good future prospect, but he is young.

I don't know how you feel I was getting all emotional. These posts are all speculation and B.S, people just wanting to have their say.

I just simply notice a string of posts that happened to contain negative vibes towards Manly players. I've supported them for 28yrs, I think I can handle the Manly hate without getting all emo..lol...omg...fng...sob

How do I do that. Do I call and enginneer to build a bridge for me., so I can get over myself.
I to would like to see us successful this year in SOO, but if selectors don't pick any Manly players, it wont worry me either. Thats just how I feel.

There only a handful of players we should have in contention for this years squads. There are players in others teams just as good so it isn't inconceivable that our players could miss out.

But your opinion is just that. I can disagree with it and not throw insults at because I disagree. It happens far to often on this site and makes me think its simply swampped by children.

That is for certain.

1. Jarryd Hayne
2. Akuila Uate
3. Michael Jennings
4. Chris Lawrence
5. Michael Gordon
6. Lottery. I'd say Soward since he slowly improved throughout the series and did enough to warrant a second chance imo. But Carney, Maloney or somebody of that class could surpass him.
7. Mitchell Pearce
8. Paul Gallen (c)
9. Anybody but Ennis
10. Whoever sticks their hand up.
11. Luke Lewis
12. Beau Scott
13. Greg Bird

14. Anthony Watmough
15. Tim Mannah
16. Another prop who sticks their hand up.
17. Glenn Stewart

Brett Stewart hasn't really performed at rep level though. Dugan is the real incumbent (Minichiello doesn't count...heh a pun) and should be retained. I think Dugan slots into rep sides, and adapts to playing with other players better than Stewart.

Stewart will probably pull out with a knee problem anyway.

Mannah fastest play the ball in the league huh? Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't he get pinged multiple times for not playing the ball with his foot last year? Quick cos he doesn't do them correctly perhaps? lol

Campese, Dugan and TLL have all played rep footy so it's not a stretch to have any of them in the side. All 3 had injury issues last year. With all of them back on the field for us, the 2010 run to the semis can be repeated. It's not amazing to have more reps than Manly at all. Especially considering 4 of Manly's best players are Kiwis/Queenslanders. If Hopoate was still at Manly he'd be one of the first picked.

Fensom will play for NSW one day. This year IMHO should be the year.

Do you ever take a minute to read what you post before you finish? Give yourself an uppercut, it isnt the NSW Raiders ffs.

They were second last for a reason.
