Brett Stewart hasn't really performed at rep level though. Dugan is the real incumbent (Minichiello doesn't count...heh a pun) and should be retained. I think Dugan slots into rep sides, and adapts to playing with other players better than Stewart.

Stewart will probably pull out with a knee problem anyway.

Mannah fastest play the ball in the league huh? Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't he get pinged multiple times for not playing the ball with his foot last year? Quick cos he doesn't do them correctly perhaps? lol

Campese, Dugan and TLL have all played rep footy so it's not a stretch to have any of them in the side. All 3 had injury issues last year. With all of them back on the field for us, the 2010 run to the semis can be repeated. It's not amazing to have more reps than Manly at all. Especially considering 4 of Manly's best players are Kiwis/Queenslanders. If Hopoate was still at Manly he'd be one of the first picked.

Fensom will play for NSW one day. This year IMHO should be the year.

That is for certain.

1. Jarryd Hayne
2. Akuila Uate
3. Michael Jennings
4. Chris Lawrence
5. Michael Gordon
6. Lottery. I'd say Soward since he slowly improved throughout the series and did enough to warrant a second chance imo. But Carney, Maloney or somebody of that class could surpass him.
7. Mitchell Pearce
8. Paul Gallen (c)
9. Anybody but Ennis
10. Whoever sticks their hand up.
11. Luke Lewis
12. Beau Scott
13. Greg Bird

14. Anthony Watmough
15. Tim Mannah
16. Another prop who sticks their hand up.
17. Glenn Stewart

This seems to be the general consensus however I'd have Stewart at fullback and hayne for either Jennings or Gordan.

I thought Gidley did exceptionally well filling in for Smith in the '09 Anzac test. The other positions not so much

Yeah I think Gidley is a hooker but we shouldn't waste a bench spot on him. Id be happy with him playing hooker for the 80.

1. Stewart
2. Hayne
3. Jennings
4. Lawrence
5. Uate
6. Maloney
7. Pearce
8. Gallen
9. Gidley
10. Mannah
11. Lewis
12. Watmough
13. Stewart

14. Galloway
15. Lussick
16. Williams
17. Sims

Pearce has to be there, simply for the fact there are no others to challenge for the spot.
Stewart over Dugan simply on experience, although having an extra playmaker will be a massive bonus. If Stewart is fit for the start of the season right through to origin 1 he is a must. Eventually Dugan will take the #1 spot but not yet.
There are 4 back rowers that must be selected, Gallen, Lewis, Watmough and Stewart. Fortunately Gallen can be pushed into the front row (where he can play 80min if required) which means the other 3 can all be in the starting 13.
I liked the side last year with plenty of forwards on the bench, Lewis can shift to the backs if required so becomes a starting utility.
Darcy Lussick is my smoky. Chances are he won't get picked this year but he is aggressive and has huge potential. The front row is where NSW is short (outside the halves) and this is probably the most lilely place a debutant will get selected.
Ennis has failed a sufficient number of times to get punted and Gidley is a more than capable hooker.

Reading over the squad again there is some serious talent. In the props, second row, backs and everything. Some great times for us and some good depth as well which is nice.
Seeing Gordan's face in that photo reminds me of how he is such a great player but even someone like him will probably miss out this year.

Lussick.........

Have you seen the bloke play? Go and rewatch the Manly v Melbourne game and see what you think. He's been named in the NSW emerging players squad so someone thinks he's got something to offer. As I said, I don't think he'll be there this year but he will be there in due time. There's good reason there are about 6-7 clubs chasing his signature when he comes off contract. On top of that, as I said, NSW is short on quality props. Nothing wrong with throwing something out there to get some discussion going, just a shame that QLD merkins can't offer anything constructive and rather respond with pictures and smilies.

It would be a shame to see Gordon miss out. Gordon & Uate on the wings, plus Lawrence & Jennings in the centres, with Dugan/Stewart/Hayne at fullback is some sort of backline.

Also, good to see Douglas finally being looked at. Seeing our front row consistently underperform over the last few years, I could never understand why he wasn't given a go.

Unfortunately I can only see Gordon getting a run if Hayne is picked at centre, fullback or 5/8. Hopefully Sticky has learned his lesson and includes Jarryd somewhere in the backline.

Its a shame because i rate Michael as a real talent but the wing/fullback spots are pretty congested if all our options stay fit

I think Hayne will replace Hopoate in the centres and Gordon is a good chance of taking the other wing (with Uate one of the certainties for selection).
