Oh btw....big Tommy's coming to get his jersey back.
Tom Learoyd-Lahrs hoping to push his claims for an Origin jumper
MOVE over Paul Gallen. The big men are coming to get you.
At least that's the aim as specialist props such as Tom Learoyd-Lahrs push their case for selection in the NSW front row after coach Ricky Stuart moved Gallen there last year.
Normally a lock, Gallen played the full 80 minutes at prop in the Blues 18-8 win in Origin II, carrying the ball 200m in 27 charges and being named man-of-the match.
Gallen was retained at prop for Origin III, and Stuart will be tempted to go down the same path this year, although the Cronulla captain has been named at lock in the NRL All Stars team to play the Indigenous All Stars on Saturday.
Kade Snowden and Luke Bailey are starting props for the All Stars while Learoyd-Lahrs and George Rose will start for the Indigenous side.
"There's no doubt Paul Gallen did a wonderful job at prop last year, but I still think there's a place for two big men in the side and hopefully I can push my place," Learoyd-Lahrs said.
"First things first. I want to get form on the board with Canberra and hopefully representative honours come off the back of that."
Learoyd-Lahrs had a sensational 2010, playing four Tests for Australia, all three games for NSW and helping the Raiders into the NRL finals.
But it went pear shaped last year, Canberra finishing second last and Learoyd-Lahrs failing to add to his rep tally in a year in which injury restricted him to 12 NRL games.
But Learoyd-Lahrs is in great shape and if he can rattle Gallen with a few determined charges on Saturday, it will remind the NSW selectors that the big men still have their place in the game.
