Yeh lets just not pick our best & most consistent performer over the past 4 years.

We've already tried the surprise factor of picking amazingly shit teams, it doesn't work.

Hayne was better in Centers then he ever has been in Fullback. At 1 he tends to get lazy and fade out of the game. In 4 he get's the ball can run it hard with his speed set up his wingers and offers a versatile kicking game from the middle of the pack. I would choose Hayne at 4 before I put him in fullback again.

But hey that's just me.

Not just that, but Brett and Jared need to be in this side. Brett wouldn't be as useful at Centre or Wing as Hayne, thus he goes to the back.
Also looks like Carney will play half for the Sharkies, so Carney/Maloney combo for me.

1. Josh Dugan/Brett Stewart
2. Akuila Uate
3. Jarryd Hayne
4. Michael Jennings
5. Michael Gordon
6. Jamie Soward - but only just.
7. Mitchell Pearce
8. Paul Gallen (c)
9. Danny Buderus - would I pick him? Not necessarily. But after the failure of Ennis and Young, the 2011 shafting of Farah and Anthony Minichiello, I have a hunch it may happen.
10. Tom Learoyd-Lahrs
11. Beau Scott
12. Greg Bird
13. Luke Lewis

14. Anthony Watmough
15. Tim Mannah
16. Luke Douglas
17. Kurt Gidley - see Buderus

18. Shaun Fensom
19. Tariq Sims

Almost all of these guys have put the runs on the board at Origin level. It's about time we stopped picking the 6 week wonders and start rewarding those who have performed in the past.

Outside of Buderus that team looks great IMO. The only question mark is the halves.. and it really doesn't matter who they are. They're all in a similar situation with no standouts.

Id like to see Farah given another shot at hooker. He's much better then Ennis and never got a fair shot the first time around.

Oh btw....big Tommy's coming to get his jersey back.

Tom Learoyd-Lahrs hoping to push his claims for an Origin jumper
MOVE over Paul Gallen. The big men are coming to get you.
At least that's the aim as specialist props such as Tom Learoyd-Lahrs push their case for selection in the NSW front row after coach Ricky Stuart moved Gallen there last year.
Normally a lock, Gallen played the full 80 minutes at prop in the Blues 18-8 win in Origin II, carrying the ball 200m in 27 charges and being named man-of-the match.
Gallen was retained at prop for Origin III, and Stuart will be tempted to go down the same path this year, although the Cronulla captain has been named at lock in the NRL All Stars team to play the Indigenous All Stars on Saturday.
Kade Snowden and Luke Bailey are starting props for the All Stars while Learoyd-Lahrs and George Rose will start for the Indigenous side.
"There's no doubt Paul Gallen did a wonderful job at prop last year, but I still think there's a place for two big men in the side and hopefully I can push my place," Learoyd-Lahrs said.
"First things first. I want to get form on the board with Canberra and hopefully representative honours come off the back of that."
Learoyd-Lahrs had a sensational 2010, playing four Tests for Australia, all three games for NSW and helping the Raiders into the NRL finals.
But it went pear shaped last year, Canberra finishing second last and Learoyd-Lahrs failing to add to his rep tally in a year in which injury restricted him to 12 NRL games.

But Learoyd-Lahrs is in great shape and if he can rattle Gallen with a few determined charges on Saturday, it will remind the NSW selectors that the big men still have their place in the game.

That all makes sense TLL but with back row candidates of

Lewis
Watmong
Stewart
Bird
Scott

who've all played more than adequately for NSW, which of these do you drop to shift Gallen back and make way for TLL when Gallen is just as effective at prop?

IMO, Watmough, Lewis and Stewart should be certainties (barring injury). Bird has been good, Scott hasn't been bad. TLL and Gallen should start up front with at 1 or 2 props on the bench (maybe 1 prop, and 1 that can play front or back row). With Bird taking 1 spot and a utility taking the other (though Lewis could shift if required alleviating the need for a utility, alternatively T-Rex could be added to the bench since he could play wing, centre or even in the halves if they were desperate), I think Scott is the one that loses his spot.

Dropping Gallen to the backrow would be stupid while we are much thinner for talent in the prop department compared to the backrow.
No doubt TLL will come back strong into the NSW team (providing injury is all good). Only prop alongside Gallen who has done good damage to the QLD line. Having him back will make our go forward alot stronger.
His form was pretty average at the Raiders last year, but he proved he is a rep player last year when he came into the CvC and for mine was pretty much head and shoulders above the other props till his injury in the game.

i hope TLL gets back to full fitness and form, i dont think theres much doubt that if he does he is nsw's best prop (outside of gallen)

TLL should never have not been in the side when fit last year
he absolutely gives it to the queenslanders, some blokes are just made for origin football. TLL is one of them.

Gal and TLL up front give us a great chance to assert some forward dominance early on.
