To hell with specialist Props. If we haven't got them, we haven't got them. Lets just pack the forwards with all our 2nd rowers, work to our strengths and play a wide game. When our best prop is normally a lock we have issues.

It's not as if its Union, where Props serve a purpose in the scrum. We suck their aswell anyway. The wallabies haven't had a decent Prop since Phil Kearns.

Would be an interesting experiement, but if it all goes pair shape I'm not taking blame. I'm just a simple couch coach.

Doesn't matter anyway, when we have halves failing, even having the best props is going to win us the game.

I know he has been mentioned a couple of times, but i believe Tariq Sims will have a big year. If he bounces back to similar form to last year they cant leave him out of the squad.

So my squad..

1. Dugan - IMO positionally better than Hayne (still rate Hayne very highly)
2. Hayne - Cant leave him out of the squad.. Although i would like to see David Mead play (from what i have heard he is eligible but doesnt want to play for us).
3. Jennings
4. Lawrence
5. Uate
6. Carney - If he can recapture his 2010 form
7. Pearce - I dont rate the kid at all,U but he has been there a lot now. Good defensively at least.
8. Gallen - I like him at lock but we dont have the front row stocks.
9. Farrah - What has Ennis done at SOO?
10. TLL
11. Lewis
12. Stewart - to me adds more than Scott (i havent witnessed it at higher levels yet, but he can)
13. Fensom - probably not this year, but he is the future. Makes up for 10 mens tackling efforts, and still makes over 100m in club matches. One of the most underrated players in the comp.

14. Gids - i dont know what to do with him.. but i suppose we need to keep the first captain to start on the bench. (he is a bloody good player, maybe he will step up in the halves this year).
15. Mannah - I wish i could find someone better.. Tries his heart out, but doesnt make inroads when hitting it up.
16. Watmough - provides a great spark from the bench - rate him over birds penalty milking and grubbiness
17. Sims - Part of the back row of the future. More sting in both attack and defence than most others.. I put Tony Williams in a similar category, but he drifts in and out of games far too often.

And Bird gave him that time and space.

Props didn't make last year because Mannah played about 20 minutes a game, Merrin played 8 and Galloway played 9 or something.

It wasn't just Bird...the NSW defence was far too spread for that.

I'm not just talking about last year, I'm talking about the past few years. Either way it looks like something Stuart is keen to address but his choices last year were mistakes

Yeah, it was just Bird. He was right in front of Smith and just needed to make the tackle, but he didn't.

I love how favourites become infallible and every mistake they make is someone else's fault.

It's not about that at all.

Sure, Bird's attempt was poor but why was he left isolated like that? We had two props at marker who moved across to cover? So what we had was one player covering 10-15m of space around the ruck with QLD 10m out. But yeah, all Bird's fault.

I'm so glad Springs isn't a selector. Absolutely NFI

So I'd be like the rest of NSW then.

Yeah cause I don't like bird I have NFI.

It's pretty f**king simple, Bird didn't make the tackle wheh he should have. It was bad defence, it let a try in. Sure others could have made the tackle too but that doesn't excuse Bird. But no, lets defend him cause he's our favourite.

He's a dick of a player and shouldn't be anywhere near the game, let alone the NSW side.

If nsw were to dump every player to ever make a mistake that lead to a Queensland try then we wouldn't have many players left. You'd even have to dump Hayne and Gallen :s

Beau Scott carried 90% of blame for that try. He was second marker and instead of going right, he first went left with Gallen then back tracked and was drag over, aswell as Bird.

Coincidently, that came of another Ennis penalty. Check from 23min or go to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x8tcBU27vSs at the 1min mark.

It was actually Trent Merrin but there should've been at least one defender that moved from the other side of the ruck

I just thought TLL would have ranked a mention before one of the softest props in Origin history.

It was 82 metres. Some of which was a stint when the game was well and truly over.

He had a better game in the 2009 dead rubber, but I wouldn't consider it good enough for Origin.
You do realise that I don't rate White. I never have in the origin arena.

But still after Gallen and TLL I don't think there has been a prop who has broke 82m recently and the original question was who was the last prop too make decent metres.

Weyman made 93m that series.

How White was even considered is beyond me. The only good thing he's done is knocked an old and tired Price out.

Hannant was angling back in towards the line on the outside of Smith. If Bird rushed up on Smith he would have given the ball to Hannant and he would have been in pretty much untouched.

It was a lose-lose situation due to how Qld had set up the play

Just watch Game II. The try we insatiable as Joker said. QLD was well placed and we spread a bit to far in defense and focused out-wide thinking they would make a play on Inglis/Wingers of Slater yet they drew the ball straight back in.

How about Ayshford at right centre pairing with Lawrence. I think he has improved out of sight plus, especially his defenceand he has a club combination with Lawrence.

If there are 15 centres in front of Tahu to make the NSW side, there are 40 in front of Ashyford

lol Ashyford FMD

Bingo, you just don't like Bird, nothing to do with talent.

:? I already said that. Still, he isn't great. He doesn't deserve to be in the team anymore than 5 or so other backrowers. And his club form, dirty tactics and off field antics should mean he is far away from any rep side.

But still  at those defending him. There's been like five or so different excuses but the fact remains if he had made a simple tackle on Smith then they don't score. At the moment it's like it's everyone elses fault. Not to say Merrin, the markers etc should have also stopped the try, but Bird still holds blame.
