I'm watching Mullen. I'm watching Mullen closely. I think this year we are bit lucky in the sense if in form we have quite a few halves available for us:

- Mullen
- Carney
- Pearce
- Maloney
- Soward(?)
- Campese

Personally if all are fit and firing I think something like

6. Carney/Campese
7. Mullen

Is our best bet for a halves pairing. Benefit of Campese is his links with Dugan and hopefully they understand each-others play enough to be able to string together a few plays and hopefully from that comes the tries/line-breaks and some serious meters against QLD.

Too early to make a call on Mullo yet. He often starts out the season well then slips into his old ways by Origin time. He looks to be playing with more confidence and poise so far though

Been our best for a few years now. People get way too obsessed with club form despite QLD showing year after year that it means little if you're a proven player at origin level.

Our best? He only played 1 game in 2010 and missed 9 tackles (yeah, 9) in game 1 last year. To say he has been better than Gallen is just silly.

Fensom > Bird

Club game? He had some pearlers last year and has been pretty good in the opening 2 rounds this year too mate.

His issue has been the games outside of his good ones, they tend to be bloody awful.

I'm starting to think that if Beau Scott is being selected primarily for his work ethic/defense, then Fensom probably offers a lot more of the same thing. But form permitting, it seems to me that Bird/Lewis/Stewart/Watmough have bigger claims, and bench impact specialists like T. Williams probably wouldn't be shifted for him either.

Nice job highlighting the stats that suit your argument.

He missed 3 and 2 in the next two games. In that time, Cameron Smith (best hooker in the world) missed 4 in one game and Sam Thaiday and Ben Hannant missed 5 in one game. So Greg Bird had a better defensive recrod in Games II & III than two regular Australian representatives and one modern legend - but don't let that get in the way of a nice bit of tunnel vision.

That one game in 2010 was great as well - 20 runs for 164 metres, 8 tackle busts, 5 offloads, a linebreak and a try.

I don't don't think Bird is a lock so your comparison to Fensom is irrelevant. Bird's best on the fringes.

Bird was poor defensively in game 1 I said this at the time no denying that, he was woeful but they weren't poor defensive decisions and he made all his one on ones stick. You'll struggle to point out an occasion where his poor defence lead to a linebreak or a try.

He did start the revival for NSW so it was an indifferent game for him, I'd hardly say it disproves my statement that he's been our best. 2011 was Gallen's first year where he really stepped up and carried his club form across to SOO. Don't forget it was his (Gallen's) lazy cover defence at the end that cost us game 1... did you conveniently forget that point?

he has been slated in as a queenslander

they have evidence he went to seaworld for a holiday as a kid

I can confirm that T. Williams never went to Seaworld. He did however visit Coffs Harbour which is closer to Brisbane than Sydney so it appears that the QRL have a valid claim. - DoggiesBlow101

Williams is a must

Williams is a mug, he'll be found at origin level with his low tackle count, poor technique & poor discipline.

He's the true definition of an athlete not a footballer. Whilst he's effective at club level he'll be a liability at SOO level.

Jeez this is going to be more unpopular than my opinion that we should pick a strong defensive centre on the right fringe but I just couldn't bite my tongue any longer. The next Jamal Idris

It's not like he's going to be used as an 80 minute tackling machine! He'll be fine.

When the QLD forwards are tired at the back end of both halves, you don't think he's a handy option off the bench?

When we're on the QLD goal line, you wouldn't want him there running on an edge? The guy has scored a million tries from just bulldozing his way over. He's done it at both club level and International level.

Williams is an attacking weapon and far more damaging than Idris has, or ever will be. Idris is found out at club level, Williams hasn't since he moved to the backrow. Yes his defence may not be the best technique out there, or he doesn't have the biggest tackle count, but I haven't noticed him get found since he moved to the backrow.
