preston?

gazf you should be arrested for not working for a jersey manufacturer :fist:
your 1/2 day mock ups are better than most manufacturers can come up with in 10 years. it's criminal you arent designing jersey's for all 16 clubs

The only thing criminal is the current standard of uniforms across the league, its not that hard but clubs and manufacturers screw it up every year.

Gazf where do you get the 3d template from to add designs?

Its one I'm working on. I get base images of a jersey (or t-shirt), shorts and socks, remove the collar and stiching and add my own detail. I'm trying some new distortion to get the design to fit the texture better this time around.

As per usual GAZ - your designs are superb.

I wonder how much clubs could get with just a front of jersey sponsor, rather than a front of jersey, back of jersey, shorts, sleeves sponsors.

You think the premium they could charge, knowing that they will be the only company advertised on the jersey would attract more dollars and would be more attractive to a company, as opposed to sharing your 'advertising space' with other companies.

not really, companies are interested in how many people will see their logo from their buyers demographic, they don't really care who else is on the billboard.

I would like to see some lines in the sand though, between jerseys, pitch markings, stadium hoardings, tv ads, ingame ads like betting and other TV programme promotion etc it is massive overkill and a bombardment of ads that is just getting ridiculous. I wonder how many adverts your actually exposed to watching a game of RL on TV these days?

A single page ad costs more than sharing one so I'd imagine it would be similar here. Given that other codes can get away with less sponsorship I'd like to see the NRL follow suit and GRADUALLY remove sponsors as clubs improve their other cash streams.

Merch sales would probably increase as well. I've stopped buying the latest jerseys partly because the sponsorship has gone overboard and I'm sure others have as well. Classic should be making a larger range of retro jerseys as this continues to be an issue although clubs and the NRL may have stepped since the explosion of heritage jerseys of late.

. Anyone know the most famous Seagulls player to wear numbers 2, 3, or 14?
Number 3 would probably be Adrian Vowles, not sure about 2, maybe Paul Martin or someone?
As for 14, back in the Seagulls days was when 14 was the Reggie fullback. So maybe someone like Shane Kenward or (I think his name was) Ken Jackson.
Which Seagulls design is it? The thick bars or the butcher stripes with red added?

Dale Shearer wore jersey 3 in '92

Really? You think Coke wouldn't mind Pepsi being on the same jersey?

I'm sure a somebody will notice a jersey sponsor more when it is there on its own, rather than one of 4 different sponsors plastered all over the player.

I don't think coke would mind fisherman's friend being on the jersey which is far more relevant as sponsors will have built in non competitor advertising clauses usually.

Don't disagree at all but there is no way a main sponsor is going to pay to cover the income of 4-6 other sponsors that currently sit on kits.

I'd be happy to see a main sponsor front and back, a sleeve sponsor and a charity of the clubs choice on their shorts.

I also wouldn;t mind seeing players have the state/country they are from incorporated in some way, be good to show the world we are not just a two state sport like most think.

Agree re the merch as well, I stopped buying polo's etc from the Storm as the last one I got had a small Storm logo and then 3 bigger sponsors logos plus a big manufacturers logo! And they charged me $60 for the privallage of advertising all these companies!!

i guess you could argue the advertising is this case was effective

Not expecting a major sponsor to cover all of the sponsorship dollars lost although I'd expect their contribution would increase from where it is as the NRL gains a greater national profile. Thats also why I said that clubs will need time to establish alternate income streams (memberships, investments and otherwise) before the ARLC steps in and gradually reduces the sponsors so that clubs become less dependent on them, sadly its moving the other way at the moment.

Depends how often they are worn. Mandatory at every away game would be 1-2 years, less than that should be 2-3 years.

Would prefer we dropped the "away" idea and replaced it with "alternate" and clubs only wore them on the rare occasion there was a real clash. Clubs shoukd nominate what their alternate colour jersey will be and it has to A) be totally different from their regular jersey and B) not clash with the clubs that their regular jersey clashes with. You should turn on the TV and instantly recognise a clubs brand from the jersey they are wearing.

University of New England (UNE) has replaced Capital Corporation in the under collar position on the Parra jersey. Also, change of manufacturer to Blades.

This is honestly ridiculous. The NRL can't let clubs sell even more spots up on their jerseys. Put in some f**king standards. This is cheap, tacky and getting beyond a joke.

If you use the $/square cm of advertising for AFL, NRL clubs should be making at least $15mill a year just in jersey sponsorship.

NRL:
2x Chest (Billboard and Club Logo Size)
2x Sleeves
2x Back

vs.

AFL:
1x Chest (the size of the club logo)
2x Back (typically integrated)

Can't wait for sock sponsorship, or players getting sponsor tatts.

Unfortunately I think this will probably be right around the corner.

Just on that UNE sponsorship, I think that's good if they provide some sort of distance education for Parra players too. I know Saints have the best education relationship of all 16 clubs with UOW (can't be bothered finding the link sorry folks, but it was on our site earlier in the year).

I agree it's getting bloody ridiculous how much they're cramming on to jerseys.

With the new TV deal assuring the financial future of the clubs I don't see why the NRL can't now bring in stricter standards.

^ Exactly.

Have one sponsor on the front of jersey only. No Short sponsors, sleeve sponsors or back of jersey sponsors.

Charge the sponsor more for the fact that they are the sole sponsor on the players kit.
