Terrific idea.The NRL could do so much more to drive membership growth, as could the clubs themselves. I like the fact they have a target of 400,000 by 2017, but they need to back that goal up with action. A lot more advertising would be a start.
I also think they could explore the idea of an NRL membership. Benefits could include premium online content and discounts off merchandise and maybe even match tickets. Would require a bit of setting up (negotiating with 16 clubs and 17 venues, and the various retail outlets that sell NRL merchandise), and I don't know whether people would go for such a thing in numbers, but it's worth looking at. So long as it doesn't leech people away from club memberships, I think it could be a very positive thing.

Are you sure of those membership figures in regards to the Sharks? It's just that the official updates by the club show that in 2010 we were around the membership mark of 4,200 and in 2011 it was around 4,900.
