Could start by offering a much better non ticketed membership. Much like souths the tigers have a lot of support from outside Sydney and i feel like they would get a boost if they had better membership options.

'Better' how? Wests Tigers stripes members pay $70 and get tix to one SFS game, along with a members pack, first access to special matches/semis tickets and merch discount.
The Souths version is 90-100$, with no additional incentives.

Maybe Thorson is right...

I'll be honest i thought the only option for people who live out of town was the out of towners membership (i kinda assumed given that's how they named it). It's a pretty sh*tty package for people living outside of Sydney as the tickets are worthless.

I think that both clubs should have an option that is cheaper than that. Also like in the out of towners deal the ticket is essentially worthless as the whole point of getting a membership like this is because you can't make it to games.

I am curious what's in the members pack because that's probably the main thing people are interested in when they get a membership like this.

Maybe Thorson is right...

I've got no doubt that is a factor, my brother is a tigers fan .

So now that some clubs have got over 20000 members

Can they start leveraging the databases. For group discounts etc

Just about every big company in Australia would love to know about 20000 people with similar demographics and interests

How bout souths members get offered 15% off foxtel if they can market to the whole database ??

This is what cooling wood do. 75000 people sign up every year as the added value is worth it

This year from memory: scarf, sticker, lanyard, $20 shop voucher.

Not the reason I join, loyalty to the club is.

True but people still like to feel they are getting value for money.

I have always thought the best way to feel like you were getting value would be to have an option of what came in your membership pack so you could customise it to what you wanted and show the normal RRP of the item so you can see what a good deal you are getting ie

Non Ticketed membership $75 inc

Standard bumper sticker & membership card giving you 10% off online/shop purchase

plus any three of:
Stubby Holder RRP $15
Scarve RRP $25
Cap RRP $20
Signed player photo of your choice RRP $50
Signed Poster of the first team RRP $50
Club Ball RRP $25
Beer Tankard RRP $30
etcetc

This way you get what you want, feel your getting good value and supporting the club. Might be harder to administer but I reckon it would boost non ticketed membership significantly and not just rely on the die hards who want to show loyalty.

I feel like Im being screwd by my club now they plan to sell ''exclusively'' to members what once were included in the packs, namely year/season stamped keyring/badges and caps...
To have to buy a badge after paying for membership is a low f**king blow
Many collect them year after year, I'm one

That's actually a good idea.
Instead of a $50 non ticketed package, make it a $75 option to cover the increased costs and give people a choice of options as to what they want included. Good thinking

Easiest way is to just provide a voucher for the online shop in the membership pack instead.

Where was Borboun Bec Wilson's column in the Sunday Telegraph today?
i was eagerly awakening her apology regarding her column last week, when she quoted the Roosters with 5000 members.
Am I blind or was her column not in today's paper??

Her column is on Saturdays and I'm told there was no retraction.

Broncos are doing the "Derby Deal" again for the Cowboys game. Unsure if it will be included in the totals though.

It was last year. Would imagine they'll count it again this year. And they'll "win" with about 7000 twenty buck memberships.

Whatever our critics say about our nonticketed memberships, they're still very expensive. We don't boost our numbers by selling a bunch of super cheap things.

f**k that!

I am a Red-V member and I wouldn't renew if the Dragons decided to start selling my information to marketers. I'm sure I wouldn't be the only one.

Settle down. I think it goes along the lines of: Foxtel approaching the Dragons, Dragons send an email to it's club members (probably an ad in the weekly member mail) saying Foxtel are offering Dragons fans 15% off if you sign up with this code "REDV13".

I know the Titans had the exact thing 2 years ago with Foxtel and iSelect did it last year.

It makes companies want to get in bed with clubs ie Collingwood have 70k database minimum from just this year assuming everyone renewed (I get emails all the time from my old Carlton membership).

Broncos members get discounts off Hyundai through similar deals. If their club they love so much they will be willing to be members with is pitching products to them it is more likely they will buy it. Hence why AFL clubs make so much more money from sponsors for less advertising space.
