If Canberra played in the all lime jersey sans chevron, they wouldn't need an alt strip.

Even with the chevron (which will most likely never be seen again after next season)we don't need the away strip, but the NRL says you have to have one so we have one.

I just wish we would do what Souths do and only have very minor changes between both our jerseys so that we are within the rules but only just.

From Twitter:

Either the Nines or heritage jersey?!

I asked Gus on twitter whether he could confirm or deny the heritage jersey being the '91 all sorts strip and he replied: "No I can't ... We will have to be patient"

So who knows. Time will tell.

I reckon Penrith are dipping their toe into the idea of using pink as a main colour.

I in not way endorse this design, but youve got to admit its a good colour scheme.

Distinct if nothing else.

I remember travelling to Canberra and we were forced to wear a white alt strip because we clashed with the Raiders lime (never seemed to hurt Canbera in 87 and 89 finals series). So then, the Raiders trot out in a gray jersey with lime piping.

Honestly the only clashes are Roosters vs Knights, Titans vs Eels vs Cowboys and depending what the Warriors jersey is in any particular season vs anyone else.

Saints and Dogs have always worn their alternate strips when they play at each other's home too. I never completely understood why, but then this year, the Saints for once wore their big red v at ANZ to play the dogs. It looked a lot better on the field. The only thing which clashes is the white on the saints and dogs jerseys, but the blue and red stand out a lot more.

Saints spend so much banging on about the BIG RED V, yet sell out for an alternate strip when they have absolutely no clash.

Sigh.

And sure, they merged, so if Saints are that hard up for coin or an alt jersey, why not just the Illawarra jersey, shorts and sox for away?

Is it that hard?

For mine, clubs like Saints, Souths, Roosters, Manly, Parramatta and Bulldogs should be proud to wear the 'more' traditional strip - yes I know over periods of time, Saints and Dogs wore the bandages, and they are fine alt strips too IMO. But come on. Why do they mess about all the time. The manufacturers probably are to blame, but again, come on.

I think you'll find that the NRL stipulates how many jerseys each club must have, so how we have "sold out" by having an alternate jersey. I gather it means every club has had to sell out as well ? I mean come on.

I agree re: Illawarra Steelers jersey being our permanent away jersey. I think the club has stuck with this in principle, raised the bars up to the chest, and incorporated the red V into the horizontal bars. I think like most clubs they change alternate jerseys over time as an attempt to increase a revenue stream, I don't like it but it's a reality.

As to how often it is worn, I'm not sure who makes that call. But again, come on.

is that you Geoff?

I remember that game, that jersey was our 2010 away jersey. We wore it in memory of Jim Murpery who had recently died at the time.

Anyway the point is that Souths were forced to wear an alternate when it was unnecessary, the two shades of green that the Raiders and Rabbits wear are so different that it's not necessary.

All clubs are guilty. I remember that black away abomination Souths wore back in 05/06.

Isn't it common knowledge - and discussed here ad nauseum - that each club has to have a home and alternate jersey? Saying the Dragons are selling out for having an alternate jersey is wrong - it is the NRL rules.

Saying they are f***ed for not having the old Steelers jersey as the away strip - that's more accurate.

Here's the thing. If Illawarra were still in the comp, would they still wear their heritage 1980's jersey year after year? Or would they, like almost every club bar Saints, roosters, souths and dogs, have experimented and changed some design features from time to time?

I'm not a huge fan of the new alternate, but I don't think saints should be made to have the exact same home and away jerseys every single year, when 90% of clubs are able to change their designs quite regularly

It's a "take over" so to speak, Illawarra died in 98 and that jersey will stay forever, they are not the same as wests tigers and arnt as such a "new identity",
If dragons keep the red v they should honour the steelers with an accurate alternate.
This crap example is neither accurate, or pretty...

Also,
Did Ireland create their jersey on Microsoft word???

I have a Scottish jersey from the 2008 RLWC, which is similar to this year's one, and yes, I think it's definitely up there as one of the better ones. In fact, I'm impressed with pretty much all the jerseys at the 2013 RLWC. I think the French one could've been a lot better, and I don't think there's enough red on the English jersey (I preferred their 2008 one to this one), but all in all, I think the WC nations' jerseys are great.

I don't know about the jersey (I don't mind it actually), however the main sponsor's logo is dead-set a 30sec job in Microsoft Word.

Best RLWC13 jersey is Samoa's IMO.

Anyway, Im wondering if anyone has pics of the Warriors 2014 jerseys they can send me via PM. I have a pic of the U20 training monstrosity.

Can anyone say why the pics were removed that were uploaded here?

Are Paddy Wagon Tours a legit company? Or is it just some kind of Irish joke going on?

Samoa and Tonga are both great. Most are good.

My favourite and worse jerseys are because of the way they have incorporated the traditional tattoos of the respective nations. One has found the perfect balance and the other has used too much...

BEST: Samoa
WORSE: Fiji

You're right, they wouldn't still be wearing the red jersey with white armbands. They weren't wearing that jersey in the last few years of being a stand-alone club. But they definately wouldn't be wearing this new alternate strip, which it just a red jersey with one of St George's old butcher's stripes overlayed on one side with part of St George's red-v. It doesn't represent the Illawarra in any way.
