im guessing its thrown in there for people who go home to auckland a couple times a year

I understand that - but for Sydney residents wouldn't a package with 5 or 6 away games be more appealing than the off chance there's a Warriors game on during the time you might be visiting family in NZ

On that basis - can you buy NRL passes?

ie, buy a ten pack of NRL games with GA to any NRL game anywhere in the Country. When you buy the package you advise the NRL of the club you support you are registered as an away member.

When you use your pass at a game, the ticket registers and the club you visit gets a cut of the ticket price also.

With electronic ticketing this surely has to be feasible.

The NRL should be working harder at engaging interstate fans to travel en-masse to away games. There are literally thousands and thousands of Broncos, Storm and Warriors fans living in Sydney.

The Storm do a great interstate package - not sure what the Broncos one is like, but the Warriors one needs work

The Rooster from the old Easts logo is appearing on a lot of our stuff now. last year's membership had it as the main part of its logo (which also said ESDRLFC), and this year's has that Rooster on the side of our cap.

Souths 2014 annual report has been released. The club earnt $3.9m in revenue last year from memberships alone. Well done Souths members.

Are you really that surprised? 2013 they finished one game off the GF. Last year they were dead last for most of the year and had every issue imaginable. I'm shocked the drop wasn't bigger tbh. Memberships should go up in 2016 if the club have a more stable year on and off the field.

Knights membership numbers have never been where they should be given the crowd attendances as it is.

No not totally suprised, thought we had reached a nice member average over the past few years. Always envison members to be the most loyal and stick with club. Hopefully a more consistent season can see an upswing in numbers by middle of season.

How the hell you turn that into a negative is beyond me.

Souths do an amazing job with memberships and their supporter base should be congratulated on showing their loyalty in such huge numbers. Close to $4million in profit. That is fabulous. Bravo Souths. Bravo.

Its surprising that the Knights membership is less than last year. I'm considering buying a membership myself, as I am not happy with the draw for my main team , the Roosters.

If the people of the Hunter had a look at the draw, they would see a very family friendly draw with at least 6 games on a Saturday afternoon timeslot from 2pm,3.30pm, 4.30pm, 5.30pm etc. Great for the kids!

Perhaps the Knights aren't publicizing the family friendly times to its market?

Couldn't agree more on the subject of being called Easts again! The club needs to bite the bullet and admit it made a mistake in the super league war when changing the name to Sydney. It alienated many fans who went for the club because it was called Eastern Suburbs and was their home team. Sydney has not worked

The Roosters are loved in the East yet more so from people traditionally from the area. A return to Eastern Suburbs and the traditional emblem would do wonders to get the community and newcomers more behind them.

East Sydney Roosters should be the clubs name!

Given that we are in a National Rugby League, East Sydney Roosters is appropriate and very accurate. It combines locality information , links with the past and we can happily call our great club Easts again! Cockadoodledoo!

But am waiting for confirmation for reciprocal ticket rights for when the Roosters play the Knights in Newcastle.

The West Tigers is a good example of poor naming.

I believe that if the NRL were strategically smart they would have called the West Tigers "Balmain Campbelltown Tigers" and left the Wests name and magpie emblem for an expansion club, namely the West Australian Magpies. I reckon the West magpie fans would have rather settled for that than what the administrators came up with. But that's too much common sense. The benefits would have been the maintenance of the iconic Balmain name along with a true link with Campbelltown in the name.

The longsuffering Wests Magpies fans could have had some future fun in the sun with the advent of an expansion club named the West Australian Magpies. Once again continuing a link with a great club of the past and also maintaining its colours and emblem. But this is too much logic for our so called marketing strategists/experts!

Having said this, I believe that the WA/Perth Pirates is a good name for this proposed expansion club, so a quandary exists. But then this sort of marketing and strategic thinking would not have entered the minds of the current crop of administrators.
