Perth ratings- Origin 114k
Perth ratings - Kangaroos V Kiwis 19k

Someone needs to keep that in mind.

It's called promotion lol. Origin and gf are the only two RL games that actually get any promotion in WA. 114k is solid for sport in WA, especially given Ko time and on digital. That is more than many afl games will get in Perth.

You mentioned just recently that nobody cares about the game in WA and you wouldn't even know that it was on?

Just look how accurate the political polls are, they use similar sample sizes. It may sound like it would be wildly inaccurate but it works.

Yep. A totally random cross-section of 1000 people gives a number with a standard inaccuracy of only 3% either side.

Anyway, these are normally used to map change over time; we all know this number doesnt account for people that head to the pub to watch, but the comparison to last year/year before gives a good indication of growth/decline/consistency...

Did I? Or are you Bs as usual? There's a big difference between no promotion or exposure therefore no interest and no one caring because the population has an inbuilt disinterest in a sport. Like any sport, business or product, you get out what you put in. WA media is notorious for ignoring any sport that is not represented by a Perth club.

Mate your about the thousandth person to post this.

Your not far wrong of course, but unfortunately is the system that is valued by advertisers and broadcasters.

Yeah sorry about that, but just keen to hear from people who know more about this topic. Thanks for the answer, do I win a prize for being the 1000th ?

I suppose the people who take part represent various demographics ? ( age, income, single, family etc )

NRL's TV negotiations get ratings boost

The NRL is hoping that strong growth in television ratings in the first 13 rounds will result in a big money boost for its next TV rights deal.

The NRL's hopes of landing a record new TV rights deal received a boost with ratings showing strong growth in the first half of the 2015 season.
On Thursday club powerbrokers were told at the NRL chief executives meeting that television viewership was up this year on the back of a spike in the popularity of Sunday afternoon football.
The NRL pointed to figures from OzTAM - Australia's official television audience measurement data company - that showed following 13 rounds of free to air metropolitan TV that audiences were up five per cent on the same period last year.
That included a 10 per cent bump in Sydney and 17 per cent jump in Melbourne.
However they had dropped two per cent in the rugby league heartland of Brisbane, despite the Broncos' strong performances in the first 13 rounds to lead the competition.
Most of that growth has been on the back of the increase in viewership for free-to-air Sunday afternoon broadcasts, due to Channel 9's decision to show its game live instead of on delay.
The timeslot is up 17 per cent in metro areas compared to the same period last year, including in Sydney (+21 per cent), Brisbane (+9 per cent) and Melbourne (+24 per cent).
However Nine's marquee live Friday night telecast has experienced a drop in ratings, down 0.4 per cent overall, including a 5 per cent plunge in Brisbane. Ratings are up 4 per cent in Sydney however.
Last month the NRL ramped up negotiations on its next TV rights deal, due to begin in 2018.
Speculation has put the deal's worth at between $1.5 and $2 billion.
The NRL has engaged Credit Suisse chief executive John Knox to handle its rights process while Nine has hired heavy hitter Jeffrey Browne.
Current broadcasters Nine and Fox Sports along with Seven and Ten are in the running for the rights.
The NRL is also considering selling off the rights to State of Origin separately to the NRL season in an attempt to drive up its price.
The NRL has opened negotiations a year early in the hope of getting the jump on the AFL.
At the NRL chief executives meeting, clubs were given a run down on possible changes to the interchange system, as well as plans to limit breaks in play and reduce concussions.
The whole of game review being undertaken by head of game strategy and development Shane Richardson, which will look into a draft, junior structures and the scrapping of the National Youth Competition, was also discussed.

Something to remember the next time one of the media clowns like the Sloth or Bourbon say that ratings are going down...

At the same time, home-and-away ratings drop during this period. Fox Sports ratings were down between 12 and 15 per cent over the weekend. Meanwhile, with all that clear air from the little NRL, AFL had its second biggest Saturday behind Anzac Day.

Fox Sports Monday Night Football #NRL

#NRLStormEels 265k (Sky Sport NZ 17k)

Fox Sports Super Saturday #NRL

#NRLWarriorsRoosters 274k (Sky Sport NZ 99k)

According to this, https://twitter.com/RL_Ratings/status/608498047543148544 Foxsports avg this year is 217k, on a sat it's 210k (224 same time last yr), mon avg is 275k (233k same point last yr), so according to my maths the avg across 2 games on fox this week was 270k, and sat 274k is well above avg of sat games & mon 265k is down 3% on season avg. So question is how does paul kent come up with foxsports ratings being down this weekend 12-15%?
