2016 Crowd Watch

2013 was 1 vs 2 for the 59k, that is the type of crowd Roosters/Souths should be getting regularly if it was truly the greatest rivalry of the game, the crowds should reflect that. All those decades and majority of those crowds for Roosters/Souths would be sub 30k/20k the hype of the rivalry doesn't match the crowds for it.

I think for this fixture mid 20k is a pass, anything above is good, anything over 30 is great

Obviously in the last three years Souths and Easts have had a better average but overall Eels vs Dogs draw more consitently

What a great little history. I'm sure it must be happening but the NRL need to look at figures like these and work out what led to the highs and lows. Obviously form aside. It would be really interesting to consider other rivalries in a similar manner.

The NRL have really let rivalries go by the wayside over the years. Some real lost opportunities - Knights / Sea-Eagles come to mind.

Would fans be happy if the NRL fixed the scheduling to achieve best crowd attendance outcomes even if it meant a somewhat unfair schedule list year to year? Give the NRL will have control of when and where within reason should they now be creating a fixed schedule year on year that maximises derbies, rivalries, , away fans attendance and playing certain games on the day's most likely to attract biggest crowds?

Nice pipe dream there old chum. The NRL cares about one thing: TV ratings.

So, er, why do they need a 35,000 capacity stadium?

To accommodate both seated members and walk ups. Have you seen how little decent seats are available on the site ? Same problem with the wanderers, a 30k dearer would see crowds hot the 20k more often at parra

13,000 is ok, could b better but considering raiders don't travel and the nrl and media rip us " a f**ken new one" every week I think the crowd put in perspective is ok a lot of fans are absolutely fed up and want Thi shit over with, and if we lose points all the other teams will b relieved big time, so to bottom feeder clubs enjoy Enjoy ur ride up the ladder....

Correct. And that is the reason this thread keeps providing genuine LOLZ day in, day out. Crowds aren't even on the NRLs radar; so why does everyone on here care so much?

Because we're fans of the game and we want it to do well. Because big crowds improve the experience for the people at the ground as well as those at home. It also gives further justification for better stadiums which again is good for the fans. Why would the NRL's stupidity and short sightedness affect how much I want big to see big crowds? I'm struggling to understand the logic.

The NRL truly don't give a shit about crowds and it's hurting the games image and reputation

And clubs revenue streams! Bizarrely the NRL seem happier to take tv money, dish a little bit out to clubs then let tv dictate sht house scheduling that screws clubs opportunities to generate serious revenue from fans. Some clubs get barely more than $4million in gate takings, memberships and merchandise sales. They could and should be looking to nearer 3 times that min when you look at the ridiculous amounts of money afl clubs make from their fanbase.

Conspiracy theorists may say it is one way of the NRL keeping control of the clubs by limiting their ability of generate their own revenue?
