Less than 3000 tickets left for the Melbourne v warriors game tonight according to an article in The Age this morning. Sorry I don't have a link as I read in hard copy.
Will mean over 25000 for that one as well.

Tigers would be a lot higher if we had more success

18k+ season averages over the 2009-11 period

Not to mention pretty much every Leicharddt/Campbelltown game was a guarenteed sell out 20k+ even against out of state teams. Roosters wouldn't be able to do that...

Now we'd be lucky to crack 13-14k

Swans games are events and that's why people go. I know people from Muswellbrook and scone who travel all the way down for a match and they don't even really like AFL. Whenever I hear people talk about it they always say how good the atmosphere is. Simple fact is the NRL doesn't have that reputation.

As for the size of clubs the west tigers are being underrated there IMO. Seems some people have short memories. A fan base can only take so much before it starts to struggle especially with the terrible grounds they play at. A little bit of form and they would be back up with the big dogs in Sydney. As is they're history is plagued with being awful on and off the field.

Im always dubious about articles like that. How often do you see that and it turns out to be bullshit. The infamous 'sold out' stories only to not come close to being sold out. Here's to hoping though, we could see 80K+ people watching NRL games live today which would be fantastic. Good to see some positivity with crowds at the moment.

Newcastle v Manly - 26k. A bit overcast here in Newy today is the only concern.
I am keeping an eye on Roosters v Dragon (anything less than 30k and that game should be opened up and go to the biggest game each year)

I would agree with that list if it was just Sydney, but each of these teams play in national competitions. It is their national recognition that determines how big they are. Swans are sponsored by a brand I recognise QBE. NRL teams are sponsored by brands I have rarely heard of. Like Parra - Dyldam (who the hell is that?).
AFL kills NRL for sponsorship dollars and crowds. Even in Sydney.
I know saying this makes me sound like an AFL fan. But that is not the case, I just want to see the NRL lift its game - before it is too late.

does it really matter who the sponsor is? The cowboys main sponsor is Toyota, a proper global company known by everyone in the world. No one knows QBE outside of Australia, a company from QLD of all places.

You really dont think it matters Mongoose? It guts me as a Parra fan that we haver these no name sponsors. It makes me spew when I go into Macca's and see AFl stuff everywhere. It matters.

Yes it looks like both ends behind the goalposts have sold out at Allianz today.Which usually means a big crowd is expected.

Do those seats or the upper east side seats tend to go first when a big crowd is on the cards? From my personal memory, the seats behind the sticks always seem to be pretty empty, even when there's 22,000 or so in the joint.

The seats behind the posts have been on sale for $12 and family tickets for $50 for 4 people.thats a pretty good promotion by the NRL if they can fill both ends its a better atmosphere and looks good on tv.

All GA tickets for Dragons v Roosters game gone.

Well it'll be well over 30,000 then which is good.
And it looks like over 25,000 for Melbourne.

Newcastle is the only unknown
Hopefully over 20,000
& if we get over 80,000 for the day that will be more acceptable

there will be 26k minimum here in Newy.

Not at all, there is room on the hill and the tops of both grand stands aren't that great. It looks like a bit less or around the same we had against Tigers. I think there will be 19,000.

Newcastle is well over 20k. They saod before the AJ stand was sold out, that doesnt look correct but the crowd is good. 22-23k i reckon
