Not sure of other clubs but eagles are pricey. $485 for cheaper seats up to $675 for decent seats. They sell out full ticketed me,berships every year.

Broncos equivalents are $395 up to $620.
if the Broncos had 12000 less seats to sell they'd be more expensive then the Eagles Id think.

Only if they could sell them. Suncorp has 50k seats and broncos sell about 25k full ticketed memberships. Subiaco has 43k seats with every available one sold and another 13k people paying $70 "in the wings" membership to be on the list for when one comes free. And they have another club to compete with unlike broncos who have the city to themselves.

By any excuse broncos are a poor second to a club like the eagles when it comes to memberships and atendances and no reason they should be other than broncos not being very pro active at filling the ground.

i don't think wether they could sell them or not would make any difference
having a 40K or so capacity venue as opposed to a larger one would be an excuse to have more expensive memberships & tickets in general.

ANZ is also bloody hard to get to. I was in Sydney for the grand final last year, I was staying at Bondi and it took me at least an hour or even close to 90 minutes to get from my apartment I was staying at to the ground. It's not close to the city it's way out in the suburbs.

Bondi isn't exactly an easy place to get to and from by public transport anyway. Assuming you don't mean Bondi junction.

Supply and demand! Eagles memberships are more because they sell out, broncos have plenty of capacity to fill. Given broncos are cheaper and game more capacity they should be selling more surely?
Be interesting next year when they move into new 62k Perth stadium if they can fill it.

have to keep pushing the idea , that buying a membership will get you much cheaper access to games
but in saying that
the Broncos are compared often to the 2 Adelaide & Perth AFL sides & criticised for not having crowds in similar size , being the only team in a bigger city

but Im pretty sure ( happy to be proven wrong ) you get into the 4 AFL sides games for a lot lot less
the Broncos would probably average 40K plus easily with ticket prices akin to Crows , Port .. Eagles , Dockers prices.

It's not relevant to NRL so of little interest to me or most on here. You seem somewhat AFL fixated and homoerotic? Is there a connection?
Why would I reply to a post on afl?

I see that the AFL has a game on in Shanghai this weekend. If only the NRL had got off its arse when the Raiders and Manly wanted to take a game to Guangzhou a few years ago. Anyway, it got me thinking about what initiatives the NRL has to engage the fairly diverse and massive international community in Sydney. Despite making up a fair portion of Sydney, some migrant communities have very little engagement in the NRL and it is a potential untapped source of fans.

Eg, my team, Parramatta is playing at the cavernous ANZ stadium for the next two years. Why not use this as a chance to try and get some of this community through the gates to beef up crowd numbers and grow the supporter base. I remember the Bulldogs did a free entry for NZ and Islander weekend a few years ago which was a hit.

Why not have rolling weeks where free entry is offered to different passport holders each week.Eg, free entry for Indians, Pakistanis and Sri Lankans one week. Next home game would be free entry for Chinese nationals. Over the course of the season each group would have been entitled to one free game. Create a festival type atmosphere around the ground by inviting locals to come and run food stalls and markets outside the stadium etc. Use the week or two before hand to engage with the local communities in their own language trough social media, universities etc. Hopefully a few thousand take up the offer and bring some friends next time. With so much space available in the stadium, why not at least try it. Would be good to make some positives out of using ANZ for two years.

I'm not even sure what the legalities would be of doing what you claim. Plus many of these countries don't allow dual nationality so they only hold Aussie passports anyway.

Which weekend do Australian passport holders get free entry?

All fair points absolutely, but I don't recall a big uproar when the Bulldogs tried it. Sure, why not have a week for Aus passports - if the place is packed out, it can only be a good thing. In terms of not having a passport, well I guess that is just a disadvantage of not having one. Nothing is perfect

This isn't about handouts or pandering to minorities, it is about marketing and growing awareness. Most Aussies know about the NRL, particularly if they live in Sydney - many migrants or short term visitors don't know it exists.

Anyway, the point I'm trying to make is that the NRL should realise just what type of city Sydney is and try to make an attempt to cater to its diversity - use it as an advantage instead of dismissing it as a disadvantage.

If there are better ways of achieving that, then all good.
