2017 Crowd Watch

On ANZ. I went to the game last night, taking clients in our corporate box. As a sharks supporter I wanted to watch the sharks dragons game beforehand. Got out of my uber and watched the first half in the Novotel. Sweet. I then went over to the corporate area at HT. They have about 20 TVs in the bar area and I asked them to switch the game on (it was showing the feed of the 20s) to about 3 people in the bar paying no attention.

"Nah mate can't do it"

"I've seen other games on here before"

"I told you already. We CANT DO IT"

He walks off.

So I have no choice but to go back to the Novotel.

As I'm leaving the gates a woman shouts at me;

"IF YOU LEAVE NOW YOU CANT COME BACK IN"

An argument ensues and I explain that as a corporate box owner to the tune of $28k per year I expect better customer service. I only got back in because I had an extra ticket due to a no show.

Later, I get drunk and then hammer them on twitter telling this story and how their atrocious customer service might be a part reason for the low crowds; and the social media manager responds by deliberately getting my name wrong and posting a bunch of "comedy" GIFs.

After the game my clients want to have a drink but everywhere was closed too. An absolute shithole.
I'm sure they will take your advice on board.

several one word terms to describe not just the fans of these 2 sides
but most sydney sports fans
fickle
passionless
entitled

its been this way for 100 years though ...
Could describe Canberra fans the same way given crowd averages over the last decade lol

Swans and wsw seem to do ok, maybe it's just some teams fans?
This is the stupidest and most ill-thought out take I've seen.

Both these sides' crowds suffer when their team isn't in form. WSW crowds were down this year, saved on averages only by big derbies at ANZ Stadium.

Not only that, you're comparing teams who have only one local opponent for support - Swans with GWS and WSW with Sydney FC... while every NRL team in Sydney has seven others to compete with, thus diluting the market.

Dumb.

I have never understood why Sydney venues can't offer passouts where the MCG and Adelaide Oval can.

Can't understand why groundstaff at Sydney venues are such merkins too.

Screens only took out about 500-700 seats last night.

If they want 52k for an away doubleheader they should give broncos fans a discount code, even if it's small like 10-20% - send out the email with the code and people will be like "may as well".

Even so. The double header is almost 30% cheaper than broncos games to attend in some categories. It really highlights the issue about where our crowds could actually get with appropriate pricing. Unfortunately most people, and broncos fans and members didn't know about this and assumed they would need to fork out $95 for nice sideline seats of $45 for behind the posts.

I'm surprised a GA entry to the double header isn't part of the Broncos season ticket.

As a Souths ticket holder, I get the Tigers, Dogs and Eels games as reciprocal entry. Its great.

have to keep pushing the idea , that buying a membership will get you much cheaper access to games
but in saying that
the Broncos are compared often to the 2 Adelaide & Perth AFL sides & criticised for not having crowds in similar size , being the only team in a bigger city

but Im pretty sure ( happy to be proven wrong ) you get into the 4 AFL sides games for a lot lot less
the Broncos would probably average 40K plus easily with ticket prices akin to Crows , Port .. Eagles , Dockers prices.

Had a quick look a Crows pricing for their next game (a Thursday), seems to be slightly more expensive for adults and slightly cheaper for kids compared to Broncos for their game this week.
Broncos game is currently in "early bird" mode, so adult prices likely end up being the same.

Honestly can't be stuffed checking the other 3 clubs. So not sure if Crows are an unusually expensive club or not.

Not sure of other clubs but eagles are pricey. $485 for cheaper seats up to $675 for decent seats. They sell out full ticketed me,berships every year.

Broncos equivalents are $395 up to $620.
