Might be lucky to get 10k. I wouldn't go even if they paid me, The nostalgia element is a load of shit, The view is poor and the form of both teams has been very poor of late and also the timeslot doesn't help especially on a Friday night. It'd be a nightmare getting there by car,

9k at scg will look atrocious for the nrl

Compared to swans averaging 34k

Comparing a one off crowd to an average skewed by supply and demand?

You've outdone yourself, clown.

Understand your point about a one off game away from normal home ground versus a team average at their home ground but how is the supply and demand argument applicable in this instance?

I'm guessing he means the two team v 9 team argument. All that proves is there are too many teams in Sydney to get decent crowds consistently.

Might be something to do with the 100+ games of NRL available to fans in Sydney vs the 15-16 odd that AFL fans have access to...

If you wish to argue that simplistically, sure. But it's far more complicated than that, and I think you know it - but can't do anything but go for the lowest common denominator.

But that would indicate on that logic that the Storm should outdraw all other Melbourne sporting leagues with more than one team? Or have I missed something there?

Furphy, I doubt very few fans go to games A) not involving their team B) not at their teams home ground. In fact looking at the crowd avg's of clubs we can be confident that is the case. Now dividing the 140k attending fans amongst nine teams, that is a more realistic argument.

Well they would if NRL was as anywhere as near popular as AFL I guess?

Whichever city you compare in crowds AFL is streets ahead. Why? Because the NRL has allowed a situation to develop where crowds are not seen as important.

Melbourne and Sydney are vastly different sporting environments, surely you can understand that.

That's not the argument.

You want to take teams out of Sydney with no consideration to what that will actually do to crowds.
