Did the dogs game get 20K? That would be 5 20K+ crowds this week, pretty awesome.

The knights crowd was spectacular. They truly are the best supporter base in the league. Newcastle is one of leagues biggest strengths IMO.

You keep romanticising the 90s like it's some great period and yes we had some great crowds and you have great ideas but there were a lot of shit crowds too. Many worse than today.

it was a different time, finals crowds were better on average but that was for a few reasons as i pointed out ..
we need to excite the general public in Sydney mainly , about NRL finals
it wasn't that long ago we did this very well but have struggled in recent years.

tis all im saying really

Final regular season crowd figures are in for this season. Total crowd figures for the 192 premiership games was 2,864,464 at an average of 14,919 per game. This is down by the small margin of just 1.9 percent on last years figures. This seasons average is lowest since 2004 when it was 14,670.

It's ok, Grant is "comfortable" with the results.

Week 1 predictions

Melbourne 27k
Roosters 24k
Manly 18k
Sharks 20k

Would be great if we have 4 week 1 games over 20k.
It's possible... but...

Outside of the Manly/Penrith game I think you will go pretty close with your estimates.

Unfortunately Manly and Penrith may struggle to get close to that mark.

2 Sydney teams should be the easiest draw of the week. But yeah bad feeling about that one

Anybody have a password to the Manly v Penrith game on Saturday. I wouldn't mind seeing a good finals game at the SFS even tho my team is out.

If we delved deeply into crowd figures we probably could come up with a lot of reasons why they are down, and yes Thursday night games is one of them.

Thursday games have been particularly toxic. old Monday games and now Friday 6pm games often get the dud game of the round anyway so it's no big loss.

Thursday frequently attracts big rivalry games that should be played in prime slots and shaves 10k or more off the crowd in some instances.
