Just to add to the discussion. We went to the Panthers xmas party and it was easier to get from the central coast to Penrith than from Penrith to the inner city afterwards. We went to the aquarium.

Crazy how that works.
Maybe Central Coast can have that team instead of some hard to get to inner city team.

Agree, 'heartland' has taken the code granted for decades and as a result the code stood still with empty seats and endless excuses. Look at souths/roosters, 100 year clubs playing in front of empty stadiums after all that time yet the swans outdraw both which is embarrassing for 'the pride of the league'.
But why did the code stood still who made it like that ?
But remember Sydney League has had some good times with the GB Lions bringing in the crowds since 1914-1974 and then club crowds alongside the SCG matches got better from WW2 to the early 1970s and finals from same time to the end of 70s and then the game stagnated a bit in the first half of the 80s but alongside SOO a revival period happened from 1985 but lets ignore the low crowds at the SFS in 1988 for GB and SOO as I have read that ticket prices was the cause of the low crowds.

Decent chance of cracking 25k on Saturday night in Newcastle I reckon. Only the 2nd game at home, good weather expected and a good time slot.

Why exactly are we burning a double header at Mt smart stadium ..?

Eden park surely should be used ..

Tigers v Melbourne would get 15k to 20k in Sydney in good form

And warriors would sell out anyway due to their great start..

Dumb move ..

Mount Smart capacity is 30k. If they can fill it then it will be better than Eden.

Eden park is capacity 50,000
Eden Park Trust aren't particularly keen on League being played there. Particularly after the 2017 Auckland 9s pulled 25,000. I can't remember ever seeing Mt Smart at capacity, bit of a stretch to think that even this Warriors side could pull All Blacks numbers.

hahaha
excuses

too hot
too cold
too wet
too dry
too windy
too far
too busy
too this
too that

tell your story walkin

time to find fans who won't make lame excuses : )
Not wanting to be exposed to more extreme elements is a valid reason for not attending sporting events. Examples it's a bit cool in the Midwest and on the eastern seaboard this week and attendance for the MLB have taken a hit, only 3k in Detroit.
Can you really blame people for not wanting to go when they can watch it on the Tele?

What team would that be?

Moving a team up here would be cool. It's only a 20 minute drive to Gosford stadium for me.

lot of league fans up here. Particularly Roosters fans I've noticed. It's an area you want to keep involved somehow but not sure the right way to go. Maybe give a "centeal coast" membership and free travel.

Dumb comparison.

You’re comparing a regional city to just ONE of many Sydney teams.

The way your team is travelling might have to play the “clap” over the loud speaker in coming weeks.

dumb comparison ?
no yours is a dumb statement , you have 5.5 million people within a 50km square radius

fact is atm
as many of our fans are watching our team lose then your team win
a , lesson in passion there id say buddy : )

Why not gain back fans and have the Bears playing out of the Central Coast. Any other way will only piss off existing established fan bases. These established fanbases have already been "terrorised" by mergers and relocation talk. Surely putting the code through more embarrassment and pain is not the way to go? !

Mt Smart was at capacity in Nov for the world cup
30,003 for England v Tonga

The negative messages associated with diluting the code and it's longstanding rivalries is not condusive to fans being positive and embracing the NRL competition. When the merging and carve ups occured do you honestly think it sent a positive image about the NRL competition? It disn't! It sent negativity about this much loved rugby league competition to all sorts of casual and loyal fans. That has impacted poorly on the code and its regard within the general community. People asked "Why are they doing this? Is there something wrong?" It did a massive amount of damage and passed many people off.

that was nearly 20 years ago & both merged teams have won comps since
so that's got little if anything to do with it these days

It's still got a lot of traction in the general community. I'm still conversing with disgruntled Bears, Magpies and Balmain fans to this day. People don't forget. Especially with the debacle that transpired to a highly regarded , well known and well established competition. The carve up has and is still damaging the regard for the code, especially from casual fans that keep wondering why it happened!

Should be an ok week for crowds this week. I'm thinking

Raiders v dogs - 10K (hopefully)
Sharks v roosters - 12-13K
Dragons v Souths - sellout (19-20K)
Double header - sellout
Knights v Broncos - 20-25K
Titans v manly - sellout 5-6K
Eels v panthers 15K

Hoping for around 110K or more this week which would be decent.

Decent chance of cracking 25k on Saturday night in Newcastle I reckon. Only the 2nd game at home, good weather expected and a good time slot.

Thinking it'll be 20-25K. If it actually reaches 25K that would be incredible. Can't wait to get down there.
