it isn't
St George is a Sydney club , theyre the other half of the joint venture
the derby should never leave Sydney

find another game for the gong other then the derby

Out of all the joint venture mergers the St George Illawarra one has worked best. Their were a few advantages from the outset. Same colours, a well established and famously succesful club with a relatively new club and a historical player association link over many generations. So out of the mergers this one would work best.

Great crowd

Capacity is 23k but it’s never been pushed.

Unfortunately next game in Wollongong is round 15 so the early season form will be well and truly be over by then!

How much bigger would the attendance have been in Sydney?
How much more passionate would the fans be?
The fans down in Wollongong have been following the team since its inception. It's ludicrous to suggest the derby shouldn't be played in Wollongong

but the “derby” is the St George district vs The Shire. There is no Wollongong/Shire rivalry. It would have gotten 19-20k sellout at Kogarah. But still, good crowd

I'm not there
but a pretty thin band of storms by the look of the radar
should nearly have passed by now

It was funny sitting at the Novotel having a drink and a few of the Saints supporters just got up to leave for the game just after 7 pm and the rain bucketed down, lasted for al of about 5 mins but later going out for dinner the road and pathways were very wet.

The varying factors per club with this are why your point makes no sense. Some clubs can easily make a few $$ from home games regardless of attendances, while some (Manly & WT come to mind) are pushing shit up hill to not lose money when playing at certain venues.

Varying factors? You mean some clubs playing in sht grounds with a small fanbase? Yeh those clubs are going to struggle to actually earn a revenue that justifies them being in the nrl. Better they keep taking the hand outs and play in front of 12k people!

Good crowd dragons. Will only grow if they keep winning. Dragons are under achievers and hopefully this success will wake up their significant fanbase.

Warriors will struggle to get a good crowd tonight, weather has been terrible all week, with quite a bit of Auckland without power for a few days. Forecast is bad again today.

What a load of crap. The fanbases, especially the out of Sydney support, is larger than you surmise PR.This is something you have continually ignored in your destructive and negative comments.

Yes you are correct as usual. The 12,386 crowd at the Storm 6pm game(the only NRL team) in a city of nearly 5mil is just such an example. In a stadium that is brand new all seater LOL.And this from a club doing consistently well.
