they don't pay anymore then anyone else would , they lost the cricket because they're arrogant arseholes
lets see if they learnt anything as a result

Channel9 are still covering the Ashes cricket series and that's it. They've let the rest go. Only kept the gig that rates consistently well.

Really?

They have the Ashes from England and the World cup that they already had negotiated. They do not have the next Ashes series in Australia, they did not keep what they wanted!!

oh
I'm sure they wanted to be broadcasting the ashes from England at 3am in the morning over here
should be a ratings bonanza for them LOL

So they kept the cricket world cup. Seems odd they wanted an Ashes in England instead of Oz? Well anyway I stand corrected. Think the Big bash is the real juggernaut for cricket. So whomever is covering that will go well.

They wanted both, they lost the rights to the cricket in Australia through their own arrogance. I was disagreeing with your post where you stated they kept what they wanted?

Thank f**king christ for Newcastle. They have the best fan base in the league and even draw crowds in timeslots that apparently are impossible to draw a crowd in. It's a shame that league wasn't as strong in its other supposed heartlands.

Partially true. Newcastle's public transport is essentially non existent.

Let's not pretend that Sydney people don't get out to numbers to other events. Cricket matches draw big crowds. The swans draw big crowds. The A league derbies draw big crowds. The big matches like Socceroos, SOO etc draw big crowds. Shit all sorts of events in Sydney draw huge crowds.

We need to convince people that NRL matches are events worth getting out to and right now we're failing on that front.
