But they don’t, not significantly anyway. Storm are the most watched club on paytv and only specific Sydney club match ups rate significantly higher on fta. than non Sydney clubs

PR all the current clubs can rate well on tv given the right circumstances. After all its a great code to view! What should be happening is a strengthening and increase in club numbers. That's progress not implosion.

On ticket prices, such a shame the nrl didn’t use its grants to clubs more effectively to get them working harder and help sort out this embarrassing situation for the game.

They shou,d have said to clubs: We are increasing the grant from $8mill to $11mill which will cover cap plus some.

We are asking you to drop ticket prices to $5 kids $10 GA $30 all reserved seating. We will give you $1million to compensate you for lost revenue

For every game you get over 14k (increasing each year) we will give you a $100k bonus

Wouldn’t of cost the nrl anymore and would have at least shown some strategy to increase crowds.

Re marketing for DH I think the nrl and clubs just take fans for granted in Sydney. whilst not outstanding the marketing for the Perth DH was enough to make sure if you were interested in going you knew it was on and the 39k crowd reflected this. Given they’ve made it cheap to go they needed a marketing strategy that let the Sydney fans know you can catch two all Sydney clashes for just $20.

Agree. Many clubs are charging like wounded bulls and its affecting attendances. I was stunned that the Tigers were charging $40 a seat near the 40metre line area. Shear lunacy! The empty seats showed their incompetence!

$48! That’s fine if your going to one game every month or six weeks but not if your going to go to games weekly,

I think it's way too pricy for a season game in a competitive market! This is where the NRL were going wrong a few years ago. I recall the pricing for finals were very high and this got many fans out of the habit of attending such big games. Their is certainly some real issues with NRL marketing and ticket pricing. And it's very clear to identify! The administration of the clubs and the game have alot to answer for and remedy.

seriously
can people read ?

they don't rate hugely on TV
hence them ( Storm certainly ) not getting great FTA coverage despite being the best performed team of the last 20 years

I thought I could read until now... you wrote 'Cowboys and Storm are poison'
or did i misread it.

Double header in front of an empty anz stadium sums up 'heartland', those who demand double headers and not attend is typical. To think perth double header will put the heartland to shame. Will be an embarrassment to the code to not even get a good crowd for two games it's inexcusable.

The Easter show is on right next door to ANZ stadium. Maybe fans can get into the double header via the easter show.

Hopefully they are giving away tickets in the show bags for the double header.

I don’t think We will crack 100k this round.

This is total bullshit. The storm rate highly on TV and tend to get plenty of games on FTA (they just don't get shown in Melbourne). The cowboys likewise get good ratings and hopefully 9 is finally waking up to that fact.

Did you happen to check the ratings for Thursday and Friday this week. A big Sydney club vs the broncos, both in good form coming off huge wins and in a traditionally better rating timeslot. No doubt the the Sydney club vs the broncos easily out rated the 2 sides that were poison for ratings.... oh wait.

Considering you have crucified your implosion logic of Sydney clubs with their high tv popularity you are proving yourself to be completely stupid! Fancy advocating a lower number of Sydney top flight clubs and then acknowledging they rate best on tv!? You are one dumb piece of work.

my......... implosion.......... logic ??

hahahahahaha
