On ticket prices, such a shame the nrl didn’t use its grants to clubs more effectively to get them working harder and help sort out this embarrassing situation for the game.
They shou,d have said to clubs: We are increasing the grant from $8mill to $11mill which will cover cap plus some.
We are asking you to drop ticket prices to $5 kids $10 GA $30 all reserved seating. We will give you $1million to compensate you for lost revenue
For every game you get over 14k (increasing each year) we will give you a $100k bonus
Wouldn’t of cost the nrl anymore and would have at least shown some strategy to increase crowds.
Re marketing for DH I think the nrl and clubs just take fans for granted in Sydney. whilst not outstanding the marketing for the Perth DH was enough to make sure if you were interested in going you knew it was on and the 39k crowd reflected this. Given they’ve made it cheap to go they needed a marketing strategy that let the Sydney fans know you can catch two all Sydney clashes for just $20.
