you're in for a good year...the Bombers are back.

Interesting point. I spoke to a male shop owner in Fitzroy some ten years ago and he mentioned the overbearing nature of the AFL and was a fan of the alternative in rugby league. What the AFL do well is harness traditional longtime rivalries which engender a more universal interest in what is essentially an unimpressive code on the field. The NRL need to change/cease the negative chat concerned with existing clubs as it preempts a " Their must be something wrong with the sport?" regard, with this endless talk of relocations, mergers etc. People see an implosion with rugby league in Sydney instead of positivity which is portrayed so effectively by the AFL. It makes a world of difference.

Not sure if serious Dave...

Cowboys and Storm are awesome for the comp.

seriously
can people read ?

they don't rate hugely on TV
hence them ( Storm certainly ) not getting great FTA coverage despite being the best performed team of the last 20 years

I think 30K could be a good result for the DH
1 win from 8 games between the 4 sides

they all stink with the exception of Manly

I don't think junior sport as a whole draws huge numbers in those inner ring Melbourne suburbs but you'd think with everyone involved at the storm at least someone could get a small inner city junior club up and running. Even if it just started with under 6s and 7s they'd probably be able to fill teams with the kids of Storm players and staff and their friends. You would think most Storm players and staff would live close to the city

Alternatively we could merge Cronulla and Easts and move them to Alice Springs

It’s been a good start to the weekend

There seems to be a general perception on these boards that Melburnians either follow an AFL club or the Storm, when in my experience most of the Storm fans I know also follow and attend the other code alongside. Just look at ANZAC day, a healthy chunk of the crowd at AAMI will have started their day across the road at the MCG.

Same old unsubstantiated bullshit.
Give us numbers from a reliable source or shut up.

And while you're at it, explain why Raiders get less tv games than anyone?

exactly the same reason as the cowboys & storm dopey
they don't rate as well as the Sydney sides or Broncos

Oh

what is the crowd prediction for the double header? 40k?

I reckon 25k would be about all you can expect. I hope I’m wrong but Manly and Cronulla fans refuse to leave their beaches to attend away games.

Parramatta and Souths are both without a win. So I can’t see many fans bothering to turn up to Anz.. I hope I’m wrong at least the weather is good today.

The weather is pretty ominous looking out west to be honest.
