I believe they do have a choice but the NRL can override.
Then the NRL need to override.
Rugby League isn’t in a position it can lock fans out of the biggest games.

We know souths 30k members isn't the same as everyone else due to high number of non-ticketed members and their alleged diaspora of fans across the country and the world.
Again, the prelim got 50k in 2014, the SFS holds 45k.
If people get locked out I suggest they become ticketed members in future.

They have already confirmed the venue.
If the NRL aren't going to move the storm to Etihad (which they have the right to do), I can't see any justification to moving our game given the 2014 crowd. Arguably more people are getting locked out of the storm game especially given playing right next door to the AFL might put some people off.
Has the Storm game actually been locked in for Friday or are we just going off assumptions, I haven't read anywhere where this is confirmed, I notice on the NRL website that everything for week 3 is still TBA as far as venues and teams.
2 sets of fans?
So
Melbourne has the entire state, therefore they should have got heaps more.
Not sure why you people keep mentioning AFL
Swans and GWS played next door to Alliance.
Melbourne doesn't have an entire state, that logic is broken. All sports are competing with each other for fans. If not why don't we plonk an NRL team down in China, USA and Brazil? They have no competition either so surely we'd get giant crowds!
The AFL in Sydney and Melbourne are 2 entirely different beasts. In Sydney the AFL is an also ran whereas in Melbourne it's basically a culture.
There were 40K people at the SCG vs 90K at the MCG. There were 100K people watching the game on FTA in Sydney vs 550K in Melbourne.
Also maybe I'm not remembering correctly but the storm game was directly up against the AFL. The swans game was finished by the time the sharks roosters kicked off so it wasn't even direct competition.
So you expect people to come out of the swans and buy another ticket for the nrl game?
I literally do not know one person who goes regularly to both NRL and AFL.
I reckon vic would be the same
Those people who were at the AFL were probably never going to go to the storm game.
Same goes for tv viewers.
So using it as an excuse for a shit crowd is bullshit.
Truth is 17k is about all you would’ve got regardless of the AFL.
Guess whatGuess what, there were plenty who did just that on Saturday night.
Guess what
I was there
Members get into both games
I saw maybe 20 swans fans.
Thousands? And I was there too. There were plenty of Swans/Giants fans at the game.
SFS is perfect and is 100 times better for footy.
The draw pages won't update until both teams are decided, but it appears in several articles on the NRL website, yesHas the Storm game actually been locked in for Friday or are we just going off assumptions, I haven't read anywhere where this is confirmed, I notice on the NRL website that everything for week 3 is still TBA as far as venues and teams.

If I was going to 2 games back to back, I would take the 2 minutes to switch top/hat/scarf on my walk between the stadiums. It's not that hard.I didn't see 1.
I thought there would be heaps
