2018 Finals Scheduling

whine away, facts are Homebush and the SFS are your home grounds if you are a Sydney team.

Get use it, embrace it, it ain't changing.

It is only a "home" final in that it is held at the nominated home ground. Beyond that it isn't really, as the game is hosted by the NRL. The NRL are the venue hirer, they keep the gate receipts, it is not covered by your season ticket, you usually don't get a chance to buy the seat your normally sit in during the regular season, the price is more expensive for the ticket. One of the main reasons to restricting Sydney teams to using the SFS or Homebush from the NRL's view is corporate facilities. They charge corporates a lot of money for these events, and the poor corporate facilities at many suburban grounds ensure the NRL would not get many tickets sold in those categories if they used those grounds.

So unless the suburban Sydney grounds get a massive upgrade in facilities which make them comparable to the SFS or Homebush, I doubt it will be changing.

The Panthers may not have the "home ground advantage" but they have the advantage of being able to train and prepare at home without the disruption of travel. The Warriors don't have that luxury. The fans can just suck it up and find a way to get there to support their team. I understand ANZ Stadium is a cavernous shithole - but it's your team. Get behind them.

Penrith is the very edge of Western Sydney though, so there's definitely plenty of justification for Penrith fans to say being labelled as just another Sydney team is redundant.

We're more Western Corridor than Western Sydney.

The Panthers members should be happy it is at ANZ.

Less travel.

This is understood It is not as though the decision can't be reversed in future years in the interests of a fair competition.

I just know you will criticise Panthers supporters for not supporting this game. But you fully support treating them like lepers while expecting them to blindly hand over their money. This is not how you attract customers to a business.
The decision can't "just be reversed" in the future, otherwise it sets a precedent and opens the NRL up to all sorts of rubbish, including possible legal action from clubs denied home finals in the past.

While I agree with the crux of your post, the corporate thing while probably true isn't "one of the main reasons" - it was a media-led campaign around 8-9 years ago upset about fans being locked out of finals because they were being played at small venues that held sub-20k.

Oh I know that. I pointed out the corporate angle as that was the main justification many clubs (e.g. wests Tigers) have used for taking games to places like ANZ Stadium. They indicated that many corporate supporters had indicated they would not buy tickets for events at places like Leichhardt Oval due to the poor facilities offered. Don't forget when the NRL revamped Grand final ticket prices a few years back, they more or less said they would be "gouging" the corporate supporter category tickets so they could offer cheaper seats for fans. as such, it may not have been front and centre when they did it, but I very much suspect it will be a central part of their thinking now days.

big hit!

The Dragons refused to move their home final against Manly in 2010, so the NRL threw out the baby with the bathwater in their inimitable fashion.

Anyway, we get Parramatta from next year. Far from ideal, but an improvement.

It would make sense if you gave a f**k about it for any of the seven seasons in between but the fact you're only crying about it now Penrith are affected tells me it's nothing to do with the NRL's policy and everything to do with you sooking because you have to go allllll the way to ANZ.

Suck it up and go to the footy. Jesus christ

Well I don't to be honest. I can sit at home at watch it on TV and save my money for something I consider better value. AND I get to see the Sharks game live as well whereas I'd be in some bus doing a guided tour of western Sydney. I suspect yuou'll hear more from Sharks fans when they have a home final but after all, the Shire is less than half the distance from the city that Penrith is. The NRL and its current regime don't care as long as they are making money otherwise they wouldn't have this inequitable policy.

You're not in marketing, are you?

I can just see it now. Just buy the rustbucket shitheap ffs and stop whinging.

I used to fly from sydney to tvl and back for regular season games back in the late 90’s when the cowboys were utterly pathetic. I also went to every finals game NQ played in sydney during 04-07 period when I lived back in tvl.

Don’t try and lecture me champ. Support your team.

ANZ is more accessible to more of Sydney than Penrith Stadium is. The fact you've missed that point but want to lecture others on marketing is hilarious.

Hi Guys

Got tickets to Warriors vs Panthers early Tuesday 1:00am

Pax was just a tick over 5k

Don't think that includes club members for both teams or stadium members.

Anyone got a update since then?
