That's not what I meant at all. I have never questioned anyone's fandom and I'm not about to start now.

Look at how you framed your comments.

Just because I'm not willing to yell and scream about the club (at this stage) doesn't make my opinion less valuable than yours.

Are we agreed:

Bring on round 1. I will be there.

I don’t want to get into why I think they’ve underperformed, we’ve done that to death.

We disagree.

Which I think is a too high of an expectation given the cattle we had. We should of had better cattle absolutely but taking what we had we over achieved in 2016. Was about par last season

At the end of the day the fringe 8 mediocrity we are seeing now is better than the utter shite we’ve had to endure since the highs of the 2003-2004. Surely everyone can agree on that.

Looking back is key to seeing how far we have come.

Now it’s time for Gus/BoD to assess we have the right people in the club, get the right people in the right seats and if needs be the others off the bus.

That’s all great, but if there’s stagnation we have a problem. And I see stagnation. Many of us do.

I’m simply not satisfied to rest on how far we’ve come.

I edited my comment too late it seems. I did just clarify it for you that it wasn't the intention. Why continue with the issue?

How are we better of much more MX?

Edwards would need atleast 5 FB's to go down to even be close to origin in the next couple of seasons
TMM will be on the bench at best for NQ
Moylan won't play Origin this year
Cleary was the youngest half in the comp.

So how is that an underperforming roster? The coaching record only matters when the roster is matching overs
Ok so what youre saying is 7 years into Gus rebuilding and in Hooks third season. Wevonly have a mediocre roster.

And that they did a great job at building this mediocre roster.

What makes you think they are resting on what we have seen? I would hope the likes of Edwards, Blake and co would want to achieve much much more in the game

Its the Gus/Hook groupies without a grey area.

Fans arent allowed to question anything ot think theres an issue without you guys stepping in snd arguing against facts snd statistics and throwing out random unrelated shit like it disputes it.

But Stuart did this. Lang did that etc. Like it f**king changes Hooks 6 years of NRL coaching for 6 wins from 37 matches against top 4 teams.

Our team 10 years ago sucked. So be happy that after 7 years of rebuilding we have a fringe top 8 side. Nevermind the fact its a side more than capable of being much better. Just settlefor being mediocre and never being a premiership threat.

Take any coach in our history and give them the resources Hook has and every single one of themwould have a better winning rate. Wehad thd best of everything as far as facilities go. Juniors go. Reserve graders go dtc. We had the best lower grade coach in the business st developing NRL ready players. We bought all the pieces of the puzzle we needed. But hired a coach not capable of doing what needed to be done.

Are we Gus / Hook groupes. I've said numerous times that Hook is an 'AVERAGE' coach. I've not liked all Gus's decisions are I've said so at the time.

I've seen others with a positive attitude say similar.

No one is saying 'Hook is an elite coach'

There is not a 'groupie' mindset within the forum at all.

No one is saying Saturday nights trial was wonderful.

Some of us are waiting till real points are on offer before throwing baby and bathwater out.

But not willing to let people judge what they saw.

You argue with anyone who has something negative to say despite it all being based on either fact/stats or what everyone saw in the case of the trial.

Mid 2000's Cowboys were going well under Henry with making finals but didn't make the next step. He was punted and now they are flying

Early 2000's Storm had back to back 6th place. from then now are the best

Imo we can go either way from here

I've said I'll hold my critical comments until I have a good look at what is happening during ;proper games'.

Have i said 'they played well during the trial' ? I did say they were PERHAPS looking at getting miles in the players legs, look at Blake and CHN back from surgery.

I will argue with those who believe that everything but everything within the club is in at the 'hell in a handbasket' stage.

Especially when you realise the club has made it till week 2 of the finals in the last 2 years.

There are 8 other clubs who would have 'loved' being in our position over the last 2 years.

That being said the club, coach and staffs need to bring their A game into season 2018.

I don't see stagnation, I see us going backwards. We were a worse team in 2017 than 2016. In the last 24 months we've lost a bucket load of talented players with more to go, our best assistant coach and even a couple of club administrators and since early last season there have been constant rumours of player un rest and those rumour are still happening.

My comment wasn't meant the way it sounded.

Fair enough.

I think we'll know a lot more after say 5 rounds of the footy.

Yep there is big pressure of Hook as with a couple of other coaches too.

'Buzz' believes he has 10 weeks to show his wares. I don't oft quote Buzz but others have said similar.

Meaning we must have a better start than last year.

Completely agree. A slow start and strong finish has been the stand out of both 2016/2017. We really can't repeat that. For example playing eels twice. That's 4 competition points we can take from another top 8 team.

We should aim to win the home games we have. Including NQ in Bathurst that leaves 4-5 wins away to get top 4

I think Ricky and Kearney will go 1st. Actually put Mary in that he said he finally has his roster and it looks average. Those 4 coaches are only a few losses away from the sack

Hence the reason, if you read my post correctly, I stated it’s time for Gus/the board reassess the situation and set new goals (right people on the bus and all that jazz).

Not directing this next bit at you but fans are generally very impatient - they want a premiership and the want it yesterday.

Gus and the board with the aim big (win a prem), start small (they would have been content finishing 8th) 5 year plan rubbish was a marketing ploy to get some decent players in without paying ridiculous overs, and create some excitement with fans and it worked and we have seen some success. But there’s been a few blips on the radar and that includes 2014. I consider that a blip, we had no right to go that far that season.

He’s had to back peddle and claim he never said that.

I think the first step of making us consistently top 8 has been achieved 3/4 years and past 2 on the trot. What they set next for this season whether it be top 4-6 teams (realistic) or a GF appearance/win (might be a step too far in my eyes). Only they know the goals they have set for this season.

This is my thinking too. The board knows their expectations. I would say the players and coach do too.
If these are met and exceeded the coach stays if not they will make a change. The next coach will have a minimum of top 4 instead of top 8. It is like a step hopefully the days of missing the 8 are over
