Hazlewood has been in average form, but he still is a much better bowler than Siddle, imo.

Starc may not be the best Test bowler, but he offers more than Bananaman, imo.

Re Starc, they’re unlikely to play him with Pattinson & Cummins. It’s probably not a choice then between Siddle or Starc. The balance of the lineup matters.


I don’t see much being different yesterday if Hazlewood had of played.

We've played only the one test this year prior to this one and I'd hardly call his 2018 a disaster based on those numbers. The four years before that and his overall quality has to count for something when you're leading into a series like this.

Strike rate of 73 is poor for an bowler of his pace.

If it were just one summer, sure. But he didn’t bowl well for all of 2018, and then he didn’t do much of anything in the warm up games.
