Get the feeling this game is the gonna be the one that got away.
Several near misses and coulda beens this game.

If England a 100+ run lead, I think we're stuffed.

Honestly I think it’s way too early to say that. With Smith in the line up who knows.
With the rain I think a draw is the most likely outcome.

Even a 50-70 run lead would be huge and pile pressure on our awful batting line up. A team as limited as this one needs to take all of its chances.

Tbh, the Australian coaching and selection panels have reaped what the sowed; Lyon, Pattinson, and Cummins are all good bowlers, but they are complemented by Siddle, Head, Wade, and Smith...

I mean, ffs...

Yeah. Simply put we need a big opening stand from Bancroft and Warner. Then they'll feel the pinch of Anderson missing and we might have a chance of setting a challenging target. All that's contingent on not being too far behind in the first place.

We will be sweeting on the weather. It’s due to rain there on days 4 and 5. If we get best it’s the price to pay for leaving out Starc/haze in the bowling and burns/Patterson in the batting.

I feel like Siddle is playing this test because they left him out of the Edgbaston test last ashes series where he might have actually done something that time. So we're playing him 4 years too late. Lol
I think unless something extraordinary happens in the second innings, Wade and Siddle have played their last test for Australia. For reals this time.

Don't know why we didn't play Harris at 6 who is surely still going to be a better batsman than Wade. Or open with Harris and Warner and play Bancroft at 6. Either way we needed to strengthen our batting line up.

With the way our lucks gone this test we'll somehow get in a winning position and then the rain will wash out the rest of the game. If we're set to lose the rain will hold just long enough for England to score the winning runs, then watch it bucket down. Lol

Can’t automatically say we lost because of leaving out Hazlewood & Starc.

Hazlewood in particular had an awful 2018, then he didn’t do anything to demand selection in the warm up games.

Starc was a swap for Pattinson, and Pattinson bowled fairy well.

Cummins is the no.1 ranked bowler in the world, it was a fair call to make him our spearhead for this match. So far he hasn’t delivered, but it was hardly made without anything to back it up.

I've no problem with Cummins, Pattinson, and Lyon leading our attack.

But I'm baffled that Siddle was anywhere near the Test side; he may take a wicket or two, sure, but he offers no real threat.

Going into a Test match with only Cummins, Pattinson, and Lyon as genuine threats is just asking for trouble. They need decent backup.

It was down to Hazlewood or Siddle, and neither are guys who take bags of wickets. I probably would’ve gone Hazlewood but I can understand why they left him out.

Siddle does have a lot of experience in these conditions, too.

If you’d have played Starc instead of Siddle, they then might’ve needed to play Marsh to balance it out.

Hazlewood has been in average form, but he still is a much better bowler than Siddle, imo.

Starc may not be the best Test bowler, but he offers more than Bananaman, imo.
