I mean we have 4 guys in our first 17 who haven’t played Origin or top tier internationals in the last 3 years. One of those is Kikau who would walk into any side he wants and Blake who is on track to take Roberts blue jersey next year.

We complain about constant personnel changes. How about we give these blokes a chance to play a couple games together and see how they go. Any other side in the comp is bottom 4 with our season.

he really is. what did Roberts do in origin that Blake can't do?

Put the other way, why would they drop Roberts if they are as equal as you claim? You are overrating Blake (he makes a ton of boneheaded decisions and is still inconsistent with his hands) and ignoring one of the fundamental rules of Origin of not messing with a winning team unnecessarily.

He hasn't dropped the ball for a while. The one against Sharks was a strip in the regular season.

Season errors for Blake = 18, Roberts = 8.
Roberts has slightly more line breaks, average run meters, and tackle busts.
Blake misses fewer tackles and gives away fewer penalties.

There is no way Blake is taking Roberts position if both are fit and available.

EDIT: Just noticed that Blake played 6 fewer games, which would mean that the comparison I made here is slightly unfair to Blake for the positive statistics but also unfair to Roberts for the negative statistics.

Dallin is Dallin, ever dependable at either fullback or on the wing but let's face it he is not known for his try scoring record and that is what the better wingers do in the modern game, score tries and lot's of them.

I wouldn't blame Dallin for not scoring tries. We aren't very good at setting up a backline move where the winger scores. The Storm, Sharks and Rabbits do very well. A lot of our tries come from kicks, barge overs and opposition mistakes.

Simmons and DWZ used to score tries outside Moylan and Whare. Cleary arrived on that right edge and the tries dried up.

We need to improve in this aspect over the off-season if we are to consistently trouble good teams.

Kikau with the ball awesome. Without it still a work in progress. I mean like look at the hole Lewis ran through. Kikau was a centre and prop in lower grades so of course will take longer to get used to reading a defence.

That is how most of our side is work in progress

We need to get another ballplayer whether it is a FB or an edge backrower someone to help

The errors one is alarming and probably shows where we sit overall

Cleary needs to develop that himself.

As many of us have said on this forum, if we are going to pay big dollars for Cleary we won't have much cash leftover to get someone to help him.

Actually Whare had injury after injury from 2015 onwards and they dried up. Cleary had nothing to do with that.

Whare hasnt recaptured that form since.

Didn't we buy Edwards as a half? I'm assuming now that we have Ciraldo instead of Griffin and Edwards is fit now he will come out next year with a bit of ball playing.

Whare played 18 games last year and 22 games this year. He doesn't get quality ball from Cleary so I wouldn't be blaming him.

I'd be willing to bet it's because our second row get more ball. The play often ends at Yeo/Kikau and it's an offload that brings the centre in. Not always but it seems our style. I expect it to change after an off season without Griffin.

It's weird how blind fans can be to the weaknesses of their own players, unless they are the club's designated whipping boy for that season (e.g., Hiku, Smith, Crichton/Phillips), Cleary still has massive limitations in his game. But the foundation is there for him to improve, hopefully.

Yeah we just hit our second rowers with short balls. It is our pet play.

In June 2017 I posted the following stats on this forum;

Cleary's passes to centres:

Blake - 6
Peachey -10
Whare - 8

At the same time of the year. DCE to Walker 67 times. Townsend to Bird 62 times.
