I don't go in for all this "it may have been accidental" malarkey in this case.

The Storm more then any other side train to wrestle and hurt you in tackles and in this case(tackle) what did Kaufusi think? That Matterson doesn't have a head and his elbow was going to hit the turf only?

He at the very least should know that there is a players head right there where his arm/elbow is coming down hard and adjusted it accordingly. But no he didn't. Instead in accordance to the way the Storm flaunt the rules more then anyone when tackling is concerned he cocked his elbow instead and knocked him out

What a wanker. I stand by my previous post, if we want to help protect the brains of our players, then this "accidental" head tackle should be eradicated from the game.

At the very least Hindy he should be getting 6 weeks, but I personally think he should be getting 8 weeks, but 2 is an absolute joke and doesn't send a strong enough message at all.
Honestly I don’t think Katfusi has the mental capacity to consider any of it

we don’t have fergo’s money, as he isn’t signed for 2022, thus not signing him saves nothing.

It means we have 500k free. If we re signed it would prob be for the 300k mark. Or we could use Blake their and blood Penisini who we may upgrade to 200k meaning we have 300k saved....

yes agree, it saves money as we may pay less for a winger.

But @hindy111 example assumes the money is still available to be spent.

The club would be signing players / putting the 2022 squad together (remember we re-signed a few players last too) on the assumption Fergo isn’t here. Thus just because Fergo isn’t here doesn’t automatically mean there’s now $500k free to sign someone. Good chance it’s already been spent (or budgeted for)

They key is to always have rookies coming through. This enable a production like Panthers are doing. You then build a core and spine.
For us we may go down the track of keeping our 1,6,7,9...Moses isnon about what he deserves. Sure another club may pay a little more.

Penisini if ready for 2022 means he can take a spot in 17 and we are up 300k by releasing Fergo. Plus MJs money. We could upgrade Matterson 50k perhaps. Who else warrants upgrades? Maybe Bryce will and Papali. Perhaps even Niakuore,Kafusi and Moses. But I am unusre if any would need huge upgrades. Maybe 50-80k range. That would use MJs money....

We would still have 300K spare from Fergo if not signed back up.

If we let N.Brown walk and felt Niakuore or Papali are ready and Hollis is capable of their role then we have money to upgrade in Opacic position.

We are in a very strong position. The balance is great and I don't buy into any sort of bullshit of losing a heap of players.... Things may tighten a little in 2023 and 2024 when we take full grunt of RCG and BLAKE'S contract. But we don't know how they are structured. We could of evenly split their salary across 5yrs and they just earn the extra heaps for first 3 on top from what Panthers chip in....

And back to the production line. By 2023/2024 you may have a semi rebuild where you let a Moses walk and bring a young Arthurs into the side or Russel .
Play it smart and we may never need a full rebuild like the one we has in 2011-2016. Or like the dogs are going through.
Instead you have a slow year where you finish between 8-12th and then start to rise again.

Last thing you want is sign older guys too long. N.BROWN plays physical. His body can only take so much. He will run out fast and when he does it will be like watching Hindmarsh. It means you run the risk of losing younger juniors and sacrificing one good year for a possible 4yrs at the bottom like the Dos and Cowboys.

Cowboys where very silly. Letting Ponga and Kikau go to keep an old busted M.Scott and over paying Coote. They go it wrong and now are facing years at the bottom.

Are you serious? He cocked his elbow and slammed a guys head into the ground. That left Matterson unconscious for a while and concussed. Then he had to leave the field and not return.

Firstly a penalty and going on report is not a fair and just punishment while we lose a vital player for the rest of the game. Where is the deterrent in that decision? It is almost and encouragement to take out a teams best where possible.

But what is even worse is that Matterson has now been concussed at least twice in around 8 months. I don't know how many times Matterson has been knocked out overall, but he could have more and as we know the more you have the easier it is to get knocked out again. We don't need to look any further then Friend, Keary and Cordner at the Roosters.

They are all maybe a concussion away from retirement or at least very limited as to the way they approach a game and play, not to mention the ramifications of a life of head trauma induced disease waiting for them in the future.

So with all that in mind the NRL should come down on this type of offence very hard so as to make it clear to all that recklessly and or deliberate hits to a blokes head, that result in concussion, the penalty will be immense.

In my opinion Kafusi should have firstly been sent off once Matto was obviously knocked out/concussed and would not be returning. Then he should front the judiciary and since his offence can be argued both either reckless and or deliberate, the penalty should be in the 6-10 weeks for a first time offender.

If he ever fronts the judiciary for a similar offence, 12-16 weeks. Reckless and or deliberate head shots, with all we know now and the severe negative impact to the victims short and long term livelihood/career and add to that the damaging affects to their long term health, it is mandatory that the NRL get this right.

I would give Kafusi 8 weeks for that offense.
I don't disagree but Melb Scum are a protected species hence why i knew that's what he would cop..
Melb will get Ref Cam despite being retired to argue it was Mattos fault..
The failure of the officials to actually dish out punishment should see them all sacked.
I don't know if the NRL has even said anything about the incident but if they havent someone needs to grow a set and blast Kaufusi for the dog act that it was..
Grubby player who is constantly offside, always breaks from scrums early and just a typical storm cheap shot merchant

It isnt like he made a mess of those Bombs. Sivo acutaly made two excellent catche Fair call had he dropped them. But it was more Sivos brilliance then Georges failure imo.
Yeah maybe but it looked like he gave up particularly on the last effort. It all happens quick but I don't think Bellyache would not have been impressed. Maybe he should have focused on stopping Sivo. I'd be surprised if George plays NRL next week. Remis to his wing i reckon.

how do we have $500k? Fergo’s wage was not factored into our 2022 salary cup spend as he was not signed for 2022.

I think what you are trying to say, is we will be potentially spending less on wingers in 2022 so we can spend (which may have already been spent) more on other positions......
