I agree that News Ltd are behind their man. I think though that he has pissed off a lot of people

Do you think the clubs are happy with him signing a TV deal that’s $200m less than our main competitor? What about the stadium debacle? The players and the RLPA after last year and the current negotiations? Do you think the NSWRL (in particular) and the QRL are happy with him at the moment?

Why do you think he says he has an ace up his sleeve or he is trying to re-negotiate the last deal? Why did he release that sob story to Weidler on Sunday saying the clubs should be grateful or that people are personally attacking him etc. He is under pressure and he is trying to buy himself time.

Time will tell hey?

But this is Rugby League. Why expect anything but the whackiesr outcome?

Not really AFL is the white person's game, I'd much rather concentrate on the growing multicultral areas of NSW\QLD. As opposed to trying to convert those who see a sport as a fad
When I'm watching the NRL it seems it has obviously fans from Kiwi/Pacific Islanders heritage but I bet you don't get many at the AFL and even Soccer ?

There is word on twitter that 2-for-1 offers have been sent out - I didn't receive one, maybe only Souths and Penrith fans received the email. Did anyone here get it?

True.

Lots of islander families in Sydney and Brisbane
Sub continental familes too - All year round cricket has started due to this

But the racist code down South can't get either market

AFL does deals with councils to do that
Also with pubs to get AFL on main screens... yet changes nothing
I was at a wedding recently on the central coast , lots of visitors from either vic , or just inside the barrassi line on the nsw side of the murray ... all racistball fans needing to scream bbbbaaawwwllll at the TV for 3 hours

after dinner on the friday before the wedding.. they.. headed out to some pubs in Wyong to have a few drinks & watch the drops & oopsies

while the rest of us from the real world watched the NRL in the hotel we were all staying at.

after 30 minutes all the racistball fans returned enmasse ... whats up I asked ?

They said , they tried to get the aflol on in about 3 different pubs that had heaps of TV's & were told flat out.... no ..
not in here

so they had to all go to their rooms & watch it on their TVs in them 🤣 🤣

I had a little chuckle & thought to myself ... the heartland is still very , very strong & as much as people claim things are changing ... in reality they really aren't that much .

Does anyone know if this is a game where Accor Stadium members have to order their seats? Or are they free to just scan in?

If it's the later, we could be on track for a really large crowd.

Eight of 13 Bays in Level 6 now have seats on sale.

that's excellent.
Recently here in the NT there was the annual show circuit...heard a guy who sells showbags
being interviewed on ABC radio and the woman presenter asked which were the most popular
showbags,so he says the best sellers are "Friends and Seinfeld"...[I know right,go figure that one],
and the third best seller is NRL...Parramatta in particular because they bring a game to Darwin
every year and are sponsored by NT as well...[Cowboys are popular here too],
she's a fumbler fan so she asked "what about the afl?"
and he says "Nah,don't sell,no-one up here is interested."
then off to a commercial break and no more talk of showbags.

A fumbler team in Darwin would be an abject failure,
but they keep talking it up....

The last crowd at Henson in 1983 was 5185: https://www.rugbyleagueproject.org/seasons/nswrfl-1983/round-23/newtown-vs-balmain/summary.html

The 8972 comes from a wet and miserable Metro Cup game in the 90's, the ground announcer jokingly said the crowd was 8972 - mocking the metrics that some clubs needed to get to survive culling amid the Super League War and therefore fudging figures - and it just stuck as a tradition after that.
