The positive is we get a look at the next tier guys with JFH and Yeo still in the side
If he is missing games it would probably be Huth come in. I would like to see Hopgood but based on the team last night Huth seems like next up.

“ better placed to cover Nate than last year”?Great win. Eels smashing us in the trial just gave them a kick in the ass to lift the intensity. Cant just go through the motions. Our pack was very impressive but our kick chase just left Manly with absolutely nothing. The defensive intensity is what we need to maintain for the big games this year.
Surprised we could execute like that without Nathan tbh. It's not a tough plan to stick to really. But at no point last year did May, Luai or Burton show any ability to do this. So on that alone we're better placed to cover Nathan than last year.
Although honestly kicks don't need to be great if the chase is. Which is why it's so weird last year we couldn't do that without Nathan. We had the same kick chase but no one aside from Nathan would show the patience to just keep at the opposition with well placed and chased kicks.
That said it's pretty ease to be fired up for a round 1 game at home. It was a much easier win than I expected. Also gotta hand it to Staines after that. Same amount of runs as To'o and more metres gained. Sadly not doing the stuff that looks good yet. But improving in the tough stuff is how he keeps his spot.
Though Edwards gained as many metres as both our wingers combined and all of Manlys back 3 combined. 344m gained is just out of this world. He could literally do nothing next week and would still have an average of 172m gained which is impressive still.

He stood there and watched To'o go over then got the obstruction. It always helps to be a superstar in this game.Watching them live I can see why.
Tom Turbo is lazy in defence they are fat
Staines issue was lack of involvement
Still had no line breaks or tackle busts but 15+ runs is fine for a winger.
Martie is always on the money.....unless it involves Katoa
Damn! HahaGood to see you've finally come around to Griffdawg.

I can understand the joy, but surely that can’t be right.
An interesting assessment though.
Thought Staines was terrific tbh. Took some tough carries and seemed to get between defenders leading to quicker play the balls.

We are seeing the next step for the team. Learning to win through injuries and the rep season. It's something you learn to handle as a club with experience.

Agree, I have had faith that Charlie will continue to improve once his confidence improved and his body developed all along. He was a standout in Cup and I still believe he will grow into an outstanding player in FG in time.Just on the much maligned Charlie Staines I thought he tried his heart out tonight. He did not once shirk the hard yards and I thought he had a very good game, something to build on, particularly given he never got any real attacking opportunities. No blame can be attributed to him in respect of the sole manly try. I think I may have read someone suggesting he could or should have made the tackle but realistically not too many players would have made a try saving tackle in that situation. I thought he had a good game.
I thought he summed up the situation really well with every run.
When he followed a fast play the ball, he was cutting back behind the ruck, and winning another fast play the ball.
When we were a bit flatter, he was just nose down, run fast, and get to the ground quickly.
I thought our entire right edge looked very good last night on both sides of the ball.
Critta gave some very ordinary passes for Charlie. But once they start to stick, look out.
The challenge for next week, is to keep that involvement up. It was easy for him last night, because they kicked to his side most of the time, and we were never forced to come off our own line.
Very happy for him though!
And this game was just a warm up. I wonder why the Dragons rested Simms and Burgess for next week's clash?Really happy with that.
Solid first game.
Now to enjoy the weekend
Still don't understand your logic of entertaining him with replies. If he has no replies, he doesn't have any reason to post, and LU will have to rely on his (and a few others) click baiting in another team's forum.Y
You're full of it.
That is NOT what you said pre game.
Bagged O'Sullivan no end.
Said that anything under an 18 point loss, could be seen as a win.
